Hello
I am not sure what turbo I have but it is stock. But I can do 37 psi of boost on rare occasion with my set up, mostly stays around 30 to 35 Psi

Towed 18000 gvw and had to really keep my eyes on the EGT in hot weather
truck is 11 years old Probally going to clean the raditor and intercooler this summer.

still interested in a bigger turbo for egts

I have the super B and find it to be less responsive than I had hoped but I bought it as the first step in twins. I have the RV injectors and HP VP44 and Smarty so I get "lots" of fuel (black smoke big time) I need more air to reach my goal of 500 HP. Twins and the BD Inter cooler as soon as I get the money saved up. I would not have bought the Super B if I had not planed on upgrading to twins. There are better turbos out there to run as single units in my opinion.

Right now with my current set-up. it seems to be as responsive as my factory turbo. before when i was fussing about it i had a huge boost leak. i will send you a PM with my number. maybe you have a boost leak and i can explain to you how i found mine. i kept saying no i dont no i dont and i did.

My B single may be a bit more laggy than the stock unit, but only because I have my fuel corraled to minimize smoke. Like mine. Good towing turbo.

Thanks for the help Johnboy, I will start checking for leaks again. I would hate to buy the twins and still not get what I am after. I know I can get 500 HP, low 13s, good everyday driver and a truck that will pull a 10,000 pound trailer up and down the hills with no problem.

any time, i hope it works out. if you dont mind let me know how it works out. it worked pretty good for me. i may take pictures of my set-up and post it. maybe it will help others. if you have not done yours yet maybe you can take pictures of it as you work on it.

Johnboy. you have twins installed?

I tightened all my clamps including the one just below the turbo and I get a much better response out of my Super B. I am very happy with it now, however I am still getting twins when I can afford it. The clamp below the turbo was tightened about one full turn and that seemed to do it.

thats great! Did you test it for leaks after you fixed it up? I am getting the twins at the end of this year first of next for sure. I found out a guy i work with has them and they are sweet!!!!!!!!!. I am going to put the twins on dyno the truck and then pick my injectors. in the mean time i am putting head studs in and trying to figure out if i am going to o-ring the head or not. i will also be putting in a new exhause manifold to help support the weight of the twins! i can see lots of fun comming soon!!!!

I looked at the twins and im still debating it,I guess safe thing is to sart w bd single . I was gona order twin kit but still up in air:rolleyes:

It you have the money to go right in to the twins i would say do it. i was told its a little cheaper if you just start with them! At the time i did not. I spent $800 on a programer, then smoked my trans so i ordered a Goerend trans and that sent me back another $5200 or so, then the single b and i think is was about 1300. that was all with in a month or two. trying to take a break from spending money and i am going to try and wait till the first of the year to by my second. I have talked to several people that have then i have yet to find anything bad said about them! I wish i could talk my self in to buying them now but i cant. besides i need to get an exhaust manifold and get the head studs installed. i ordered the studs and they should be here soon! I figure do a little at a time and it will keep me busy the rest of the year!

thats whats stopping me I dont have studs. they say u can do it without but im a little skeptical .

Do the studs and get them if thats all it is. If you shop you can find the studs for around $350 to $400. I should know in a week or two as to what kind of job it is. I know the exhause rocker has to come off. but i really do not think it will be a big deal...

Do not have studs either, Piers Harry sent me an email telling me if I kept my fueling/egt's below 1250*, no problem. So far he is right(2yrs), but you have to be disciplined. He was speaking specifically about the BD R700 compounds, he also told me to block the wastegate on my secondary/top charger, not to worry about boost, just be sure to keep egt's in check.

Edit: Piers was also specifying 3rd gens.

Eventually, I will get studs, because I know there is quite a bit more fuel I could throw at this setup, but for now I am content as can be!

I think I may just wait. I tow often and cant chance that. I think when I stud it I will O-ring too I knw its prob not cheap but what can I do:confused:

see thats where you and i are different, a mustang gets next to me and want to try and race or pass me. its all over i am turning off ever safety limit on my programer and going for it at any cost. lol So i need to build a rig that i can lay in to it and it be ok. Thats like saying i have 500 hp on a stock trans i just cant get on it. thats what happened to me i put a programer on it got on it really hard the day i put it in. guess what i ordered next? Any one willing to guess but i bet it will only take one guess as i gave you the answer already. lol

stud it and run the twins. after you put the twins on pick your injectors that will be a good fit then you should be able to run it as hard as you want. thats what i have been told from several people sled pullers engine builders and so on. i am doing the same and i pull some heavy loads 25k is not uncommon to see on my trailer... .

My dads theory that he has burned into me "Do it right or dont do it at all".

I wanna knw I can dust some one or use it to get a trailer up a hill :-laf
