I am thinking of getting the super b turbo for my truck who's running them and is it a good upgrade for towing also i have herd it is slow to spool ? and what kind of hp will it support on these trucks I tow in the 30 to 35 thousand pound range and this stock turbo is not cutting it .

Thanks shaun

It should support 450-500 HP without too much problem. It looks like a pretty good option for what you need. With a manual behind it you could go a little bigger and not hurt yourself too bad.

The Super B works very well on First Generation Turbo Diesels, especially if they have a bit more fueling than stock. It spools fast enough, lowers egt's, and is very durable.

The Super B will spool way faster then the 21cm exhaust housing turbo that you have now. I've been running one for about 80000 miles now with out any problems and almost all of those miles have been towing. But only about half the weight that your towing. I think it was money well spent in my case.

Thanks for the replies. I've got the pump turned up a little ways now. I also have some 50 hp bully dog injectors but I haven't put em in yet because I can't keep it cool as it is.

There is no way a Super B would support 450-500 on a ve pumped truck.

A Super B is a 57/65/12 IIRC?

A Super B Special is a 64/71/14; it would support 500.

Back to the topic. It will be better than the stock turbo for sure.

Another good choice is a 62/65/12 for what your doing.

What model Schwitzer turbo is the bd based off of and what are the differences between just a plain schwitzer turbo ? I am looking at 350 hp max to be able to tow reliably

Not sure if it is based off the S300 like the "Special" or not. What makes them different? Don't know that either.

If your hoping to cool 350 hp, the Super B might be able to do the job but, you are on the verge of needing a 62/65/12.

What elevation are you running?

Track down Tim Worline. Tworline on the forums. He has a 62/65/12 I believe and makes 350hp too. He is a good guy to ask for help. The Cooler tubz he makes help make power and lower egt too.
