I am looking for opinions on a BD throttle sensitivity booster for the '98.5-'02 trucks with a manual transmission. Does anyone know how they work and are they truly beneficial for improving low-end torque.

I would like to improve the low-end torque on my truck to help get it moving while towing when I have to start from a stop on a steep grade. My truck is stock and I am satisfied with the power, but when boost is lost during an upshift, it takes awhile to get back into the torque curve.

Any observations will be appreciated.

John, I had one on my 2002 with manual and it really did work. It was VERY sensitive with accelerator and VERY responsive. It was super easy to install and worked as advertised. I ran it about 2-3 weeks and took it off and sold it. My truck is a work truck and I could NOT keep my foot out of it. I was very afraid that I was going to tear the clutch, transmission or rear end out of it. You know the lag you have on take off when you take your foot off the clutch? Well, that was LONG gone and it responds immediately. I could see myself walking and turning away customers because my truck was torn up. I LOVED the low end power though.

Thanks for your reply. I noticed that your signature is a 2002 truck with a Smarty installed - is this the same truck that the BD throttle sensitivity booster was installed, and if it is, did you drive it with the Smarty out of the loop or was the throttle booster stacked with the Smarty?

I ran the smarty on the 3 setting and ran the bd throttle booster on both 50% and 100% settings and it was so sensitive to the accelerator that I was afraid I was going to tear something up it was so good to me.
