I want to add an Exhaust brake to my 01 4x4 auto. Aside from the better TQ and valve body i need to get, do i need the Torque lock too?, or is that something that is a luxury so to speak?

TORQ-LOK IN THE WORST PRODUCT THAT YOU CAN BUY.

DO A SEARCH IN THE ARCHIVES

YES I DO KNOW THAT I AM YELLING BECAUSE THE PRODUCT SUCKS

I second Bob's opinion as many other owners of the product that have had failed TC's because of it.

Ditto the last two posts above this one! In fact, if you really want a TorqLoc, I will sell you mine... just look for the ad in the Classified section. I can't even seem to "give" it away for $75. !!!! They list for $225. !

If you ONLY use the TorqLoc in the green (or AutoLoc) mode, you will be ok... but what if someone else is driving your Ram?

EMD , which e brake do you plan to get ? DTT has a smart controler that will NOT allow you to DESTROY your NEW TC if you so desire ? DON'T get a Torque Lock unless you enjoy removing your transmission and dropping $1000 a pop for a TC everytime you smoke the lock up clutch .

Ok, thanks, that answers that question. I was going to go with a Jacobs or BD brake. I would rather not do anything to my transmission and leave it stock, but i am guessing it would fry it

emd , confusion here , did you say you have a stock transmission ? also you need some type of controller that will hold the TC locked while the ebrake is on , BD has an auto lock for this function . the reason for the bad mouthing of the torque lock is its feature that allows a person to manually lock the TC whenever you want , that is what will kill your TC .

bd could save alot of face if they just discontinue that product , but money seems to be the motivating factor behind its still being available ... #ad

For what its worth, I have one of the DTT Smart Controllers in my truck along with a PacBrake and I love it. Bill's controller (along with his TC and VB) is the only way to go when putting an E-brake on an Auto.

STAY AWAY FROM LOCKUP SWITCHES!!! ESPECIALLY THE TORQUE LOK!!
