Hey Guys, Did a search looking for information on the BD Towloc, not much out there, so asking again. I drive a lot of mountains in the west towing at a GCW of 20K, really need that extra stopping ability. Anyone using the Towloc I’d like to hear from you.

Hey guys I am in the middle of the BD tow-loc install. So far all I have had is problems but hopefully this week they will get it working correctly.

If you want more info PM me.

I have one and absolutely love it. I can't help out much on the install process as I paid someone to do mine. There is a lot of electrical involved in hooking this up so I stayed away. I have run mine for about 35k and have had ZERO problems with it.

I don't use it for and exhaust brake, I just love the program-ability of my transmission functions. I have spoken with folks who use it for the E. Brake and they sware by it.

On BD's site it sounds impressive yet I have to wonder why so few have em. I searched here and over a DTR.

What I would like to know is:

  • Will it allow a down shift from 4th to 3rd while in lock up?
  • Can you set the unlock speed?
  • Can you manually select lock up at any time?

I know the ATS commander will allow the 4th to 3rd down shift but you have to do it manually with the OD button, I would like the down shift to function on its own as you slow and then when slowing even more, unlock from drive so the OEM system will go through its continued normal down shifts to 2nd and then 1st.

Yes you can program a 4th to 3rd downshift in lockup.

You can set the unlock speed, but no there is not manual lockup. I suppose a lockup switch could be wired in parallel with the towloc and it would probably do everything you want. There are very few functions that is won't do. Like I said, there are a lot of wire connections to make on install, so I paid a pro to do it, but I sure do love it.

Thats cool, I would really like that. I wonder if doing that function requires their VB?

I sent off an email to Pat @ BD asking about it and their converters.
