Hi evey one, I've been a member for a while but this is my first post. . Last sep My 04. 5 was in the shop for a injector knock. At that time the dealer told me my idle time was 14%. Of course the were not able to find any bad injectors. After that I got a triple dog and ran that untill Dec when I brought the truck back in for injector knock. The Dealership is telling me that my idle time is 43%. I dont drive this truck every day and usally drive more then 60 miles when I do.

Does any one know if the BDDL goofs up how the ecm tracks run time. There is no way this thing has 43% idle time. I have not loaded the Bddl back in since.

Has any one had a problem with the outlook reading high egt. I show almost 500 deg in gear stoped and 800-900 at 65 to 70mph. Pulling a 18 ft car trailer witha total weight of 4,000# 65-70 is 1000-1100. This is stock with a true-flow filter and the egt by #3 cly.

Any imput would be great. Thanks

From what I have read here, the Downloader sets all the counters back to 0 when you put the factory program back on. so you have idled 43% of the time since then. Of course I assumed a BDDL is a downloader, and I assumed you put the factory program back on before going to the dealer.

I did put it back to stock the day before going to the dealer. And its a Triple dog.

The total run time gets reset if the ecm is reflashed. Mine was flashed last spring, which put the counter at 0 hours. The dealer said it now shows 43 hours.

The something else that does not make sense. The ecm breaks down the percent of time the engine is at a given load on 10 point inc. Mine shows 15% time at 0-10% load, 18% time at 10-20%, and 22% time at 20-30% load. this makes sense becouse uptill last week the truck was not used for towing much. I asked the dealer how the idle time could be 43% when the 0-10% load was only 15%. He said it didn't make sense to him.

I don't know about the run time vs. hours vs. %, but, your EGT's sound completely normal. They are actually just about perfect.
