Just wondering what kind of EGT readings people are getting with their BDDL set on performance. Seems there isn't much difference than stock of which I'm quite happy. Pulling a grade ,wide open,no load, the highest I seen is 1250 or so pre-turbo. Thanks in advance.

HIghest I've seen in performance, pulling about 7000lb up a grade, has been about 1100, but I was only running about 65. Haven't ever seen much more than stock EGT's with it.

1100 Post Turbo pulling a Dump Trailer with 8 tons of Gravel up a 4* grade

I'd be careful running that hot post turbo with the stocker. I have both pre and post EGT guages and even with the B1 will see 400-500*F differences when putting my foot into it. When I am 1100 post turbo, I am usually 1500+ pre turbo.

Pulling 14k up a 6% grade I get to 1250 real quick(pre trubo) Thats where I take my foot out and hold that temp. Can't use all the power (bummer) Have free flow muffler and swiss cheese air box. and thats only on the tow mode. Don't know what the performance mode would do. .

I am running the BDDL on performance with a Ramifier. When towing I have the Ramifier sitting at about 1/4 of max I get my best temps. Sometimes on the flats I will turn it right off for best mileage

My EGT's are safe but I can pin 1300 fast if I don't get off the go pedal on a grade when towing.

I ran a VA and EZ for pressure and towed 33,000 pounds total weight and the pyro pre turbo held at 1250 all the way... 490 miles. The exhaust manifold shroud was and is brown now.

I have a Silverline 4 exhaust with a Nelson 51" muffler... which dropped my egt by 50F towing compared to a smaller, louder muffler that droned under load.

I am also running my shaker hood and I attribute the safe EGT's to this combinatuon. Next change I am making is the turbo.

I am seeing insane EGTs. I was running in extreme mode for a couple of weeks and I check my EGT max and it was 1800*+ pre turbo. I backed off to performance level for a couple of weeks and again I saw 1800*+. So, last week I put it back to stock mode and took a trip to the White mountains. At first I thought the temps would be down, but again I saw 1800*+. Coming out the the Salt River Canyon I was seeing 1500*+ 3-4 seconds a couple of times.

Strange as it may seem, my boost in extreme and performance would barely make 39. In stock mode it made 42. This is with a stock turbo.

I know that SPA gauges read real fast. These readings are just for a fraction of a second, but it still set the max figure and it is kind of scary.

When I get a chance I am going to change to post turbo like Dodge and Cummins recommends.

Something isn't right with your truck. I could maybe see it with the box on Extreme but with the stock program and the mods you have it shouldn't be anywhere close to what you're seeing. Be CAREFUL running EGT's that high! That's on the verge of meltdown if it stays there for more than a few seconds.

Something seems wrong with your gauges. I see 42-44 lbs boost on performance and around 39 in tow or stock. My egt is nowhere close to the temps you are seeing. I am using the BD outlook monitor for temp readings. I have not ran the truck in the extreme setting (I am sure that I would like it and I know the transmission will not hold up to that setting. )

It is not that I actually see these numbers, except on the max readings that are stored in a gauge. I set my warning light to go off a 35# for boost and 1450* for pyro. When I am driving I can see the light go off in the corner of my eye and by the time I glance over to read the guage, the lights are usually out and the numbers are more reasonable. The gauge is recording a max spike.

I am not really too worried about it because I am seeing the same reading everyone else describe in the various threads on EGT's and boost during longer running periods. The sample rates on the SPA Technique gauges are so fast and frequent, I am see readings that are happening inside everyones engine and you are not seeing it because of sample averaging for analog gauges. I can program my guage to sample less frequently and it would give me a lower reading because of the averaging of the samples. Well, I don't because I am lazy.
