Beach driving in N.C. ????

Has anyone did and 4-wheeling next to Holden Beach, N. c. ? I have been out on the beach at Kure beach next to Fort Fisher. According to my road map "regional beach access" is listed at Holden. However no one that I call can verify this.
Looking forward to giving my Ram some 4x4 exercise! . . thanks
