Wlep Put a shiny new set of :eek: replacement :eek: 255'85/16 BFG Mud Terrains on to replace the somehow burnt off ones before :rolleyes: .

The inside rears on both sides had welded themselves on the hubs BADLY.

I had them off maybee 5,000 miles ago to pull a brake inspection and freshened them up with anti~Seeze.

Today ... ... My Gawd Welded on baked on stuck on rims! Finaly with LOW HEAT and persuasion we got 'em off 45 minutes later.

The truck now has new sneakers (No more smokey donuts! #ad
)

But how in the blue blazes can they weld on after 5K and anti Snot? Any ideas?

Hey ToolMan- A tad off topic, but how much clearance between the rear duals do you have with the 255's? I'm sure you have a 4x4, but I am considering switching up to 255's.

Good thing!

You have an 01. The '01 on up Rams have the required backspacing to acomplish this. Basicly The 255's are 33. 5 " tall.

I can fit my Fat flat hand inbetween them no problems. The same section width as the 235's. Remember they are D rated :)

I have been searching high and low for an E, but they don't exist.

The difference betwen the D & E rating is only about 42lbs- not enough to concern me.

OneStack, The 2001 on up rims have different backspacing so no spacers are needed. Actually I have plenty of room to spare! I can easily fit my hand inbetween the two rears. But Yes that is a valid point pre 2001 do need spacers.

They do exist because i have a set of 255's with an 'E' rating. I bought them through a local dealer that has some stores around the country (not sure as to where exactly) the store is (dont laugh) Big 'O' Tires. They have their own brand and they make the 255's with the heavy ratings. Which I needed to haul my equiptment. If I find a website or something with a national number I will let you know.

I didnt know much about them, they put a dealer in late last summer and it was time to change tires and I was looking to go up to hopefully add a little more mpg's. And I went to check them out and really like the look of the tire, and they shot me a great price. I bought all 7 for $1000 mounted and balanced. And I have been extremely happy with them. 20k with them so far and little to NO wear on them so far.

I got mine a NAPA, but I would imagine that most any will have them really. They were a decent price, paid $20 for 2 sets (total of 4)(2 on each side. But check your individual set up. You may not need that many, and if so make sure that you have plenty of stud left to SAFELY tighten the lug nuts.
