I have been without the radio in the gray ghost for several days. The detachable face on my Jensen (any one caught snickering will be whipped with a wet noodle) $39. 00 unit was attacked by my 3 yr old son. He found the button to release it, thought he broke it so was going to fix it back, and you guessed it broke the retaining clips.

If I am in my truck the radio is on. Without it, I have all sorts of worries now about all the strange noiseses (sp) I am hearing!!!! It is absolutely frightening the noises this thing makes without the radio to drown them out!!!! It was so bad that I spotted a 2nd Gen truck at a used car lot and stopped for a look see. It had 160,000 miles on the clock. I drove it and actually thought I was in a Benz or Caddy compared to my truck!!!! Quiet, smooth, and no strange noises with the radio off!!!!

But I'm back in business now. Wally Mart has a Jensen (shut it up,... I'm warning you) CD unit on sale. Exact fit for the Cassette unit it is replacing. Price wasn't to bad at $89. 00. Also they had Rotella T for $5. 40 a gallon. Killed two birds with one trip. Got my new stereo and oil for the next change!!!

P. S. In case anyone can't fiqure it out I am bored at work tonight. End of month is slow but tomorrow we will be Cranking again!!!

I'd really be in trouble if my radio broke - I'd be able to hear myself sing!

Shrimpy,
I recently installed the Pioneer CD stereo from Wally World, price was around $250. 00 and well worth every penny. This stereo was designed for Chrysler and GM installations, and when you purchase the $7. 00 adapter plug, even the simplest of idiots can wire it. You simply plug in the two adapter plugs to your factory harness, match the colored wires and crimp on your splices. After installing it, I thought to myself I should have done this years ago. This is the first CD stereo I have ever owned that does not skip. I have hit many bumps and potholes to try to get it to skip, but it continues to play flawlessly.

Hey DJP, I know exactly which plugs you are talking about. They work great. My stereo is a 1 DIN, the ones our trucks come with are 1 1/2 DIN. I had to also purchase the "KIT" that is basically an adapter to fit the smaller body of the 1 DIN in the larger hole. Even someone as electrically challenged as myself managed to complete the install in short order. I have been working all weekend so I haven't installed it yet, should do that tomorrow. Hopefully it won't skip.

Have you replaced the speakers yet?? I know the ones in the front door are 6x9, but what size are the ones in the back. My truck is a CC. Someone told me 5 1/2 another said 4x10. That will be my next project.

Shrimpy,
The speakers are my next project too, but I was surprised how much better my old original equipment speakers sounded with the new stereo. It should sound a whole lot better with some new speakers.
I had my door panel off today, and I noticed the speakers in the door are standard 6X9, but I don't know about the ones behind the seat.

Thanks for the info Terry!!! Got the new stereo in and it sounds great.
