Hey Guys (And Gals #ad
) I am kinda once again gathering info on a Bed Top.

There's a million brands and I was wondering who has what and what they like about it. I am leaning twards a unit that has full rear doors. I just dunno what one I want (even If I do ... . I just don't know it depends what I see here I guess)

Post Pics , or info , even just some links , or all three if ya could.

Thanks,

TMTT

I've had my A. R. E. MX series cap since Oct. and I'm happy with it. It's a little taller then cab high so I can walk around bent over. A full rear door was an option but I like using the tailgate as a work bench/picnic table, especially while camping. I do have two small leaks, but it also has a fold down front window, which is where it leaks at I think. Ketchikan also gets 10+ feet of rain a year so almost everything leaks. I've read of others having quality problems with their A. R. E. 's but mine's fine. I like the flat rear door, some canopy's have a contoured rear door but I always worry about replacing something like that later on. My flat one I'll just buy some saftey glass and be done. Sorry I don't have any pics yet but I think their web site is 4ARE.com.

TMTT,

I have a Gemtop WorkMaster series on my 02 and I really like it. Go to www.gemtopmfg.com/home1.html , click on "commercial produsts", and then click on "WorkMaster".

It is very nicely built... really like the side doors and 2 full rear doors. If you have a dealer near you, prepare yourself for sticker shock. I checked with the dealer here in Dallas and they get ~$2400 for them new. I found one used in a nearby town at an RV dealer that wanted it out of their way. Gave them $25 for it and spent another $300 with a local bodyshop to paint it to match. Try and find a nice used one if you can and take at least one other good sized guy to help you load it. We took off the side doors and the rear doors and it was still a beast with only 2 people... 4 is much easier but I don't think even 4 would be able to do it if you left all the doors on it.

If you want a pic of what it looks like on a Dodge, lemme know and I'll put one up for ya.

After much research I went with a Raider canopy and I'm glad I did. Price was right, quality excellent, color and fit perfect. I'd buy another. They come in any door/window configuration you can dream of.

jim, Good advice! WOW sticker~Shock~to~The~Ticker! being i am maticulous and especialy with tool layout and whatnot ..... the only dings should and better be from me! But even so if I got a deal like that I wouldn't mind 1,000 dollars worth of paint and mending that's for sure!

. I likey like the styling of the rear doors on the MX! Kinda hey kinda wow but I can get over that!

I've got an ARE on the 97 and a Leer on the 99, and the ARE seems to be about double the quality of the Leer. The only down side of the ARE is that its about 2x as heavy too, and it's a pain to take off.

I've been happy with my Jeraco. The quality is excellent, but if I had it to do over, I'd get one with hinged side windows and a headliner. Jeraco has started offering headliners, but when I contacted them about aftermarket availability they said 'not possible' because the liner goes in before the windows.

Not to steal the thread, but does anybody know where you can get an aftermarket headliner for a cap? Thanks.

You could have an upholstery shop make and install one for you, or make your own out of some fabric or carpeting and glue it in. I'm planning on lining the hard top on my jeep for insulation with some thin foam called "Ice Blanket". I'll glue it in with Liquid Nails.

I have the liner in my cap, but I paid extra for it from the factory. great option! :p

Tim, I have the Century ultra cap on my rig. I like the quality.

However if I was going to do it again I would get the ARE! Quality is impeccable. They are available in CT at Cap City in Danbury. I didn't get one their because of the distance to Danbury.

Well No one has said this one so here is mine.

It is a Leer shell from

www.leer.com

Mine is the 100XL with the Browning edition which has a rack, a storage box inside in the roof and it comes with carpet inside.
