I ordered the factory bed light kit and went to install it on my 2016 Ram 3500 Laramie and when I slid under the rear to run the included wiring harness, it was already there with caps on the connectors which I removed and plugged the new lights into. I was hoping they would work but they don't. Has anyone seen this and do I still have to go to the dealer and have them activated?
Thanks, Scott

Gone are the days that you just buy a add on for your truck plug it in and it works.... Big brother needs to know everything about your truck, they store this info in SKYNET so in the event that you get hit by a atomic blast or a lightning strike or in our cases wield that beer opener on to the trailer hitch and fry the computer they can re flash a new one once it's installed. SKYNET knows about your bed lights install my back up cam system and how many extra lbs sat in the passenger seat after thanksgiving dinner. It knows everything about you and your truck even the right wing or left wing radio stations you listen to. It's always watching waiting for the chance to rise up and take over...... One day our trucks will become part of the TERMINATOR.....
Lol
Well it could happen....

But seriously Volvo Penta marine is set up much the same way. Any option or upgrade has to be added to the home computer then the option has to be turned on through the system. In the event of a systems failure they have a file on your unit what options you have and have added for the sole reason that if you do fry your system they can restore it fully. It does work we've had boats that were close to a lightning strike that had their computer memory smoked and it was relatively fast and easy to restore the systems once they were connected into the Volvo VOTIA (SP?) system. I can't say the same for CAT's system.....

Will likely cost you at minimum a $40 charge. That's what my dealer charges for a flash. $35 + tax.

Or they might just charge a half hour labor?
