Anyone know what the height of the bed rail is from the floor of the bed? I'm thinking 20"?? But i need to know for sure...

on my 07 its around 20 give or take just a little becauce of the sparay in bed liner and bed rail caps. On my 01 it is 19 give or take for the same reasons. Just measured this the night before last. Put a straight edge over rails and measured to bed floor. I am trying to figure out how many shims in my rear suspension i need to move to the top of the stack to have my new truck 1 inch or so lower than my old truck.

Thanks for that... I'm going to be looking at an auxiliary fuel tank and didn't want it really sticking up past the rails much...

I would look into lowering mine as well, but I have airbags and I don't think I could squish them quite that far...

Thanks again!

The bedrail height is about 1" less in front than in the rear. I found that out when I mounted my popup on the '07 and thought I'd left something under the camper in front. Nope. For esthetic reasons, the bed rail is not parallel to the bed on these 3rds. You won't notice it unless you've got a slide-in like mine where the camper side is higher and you have that gap. I had to install a riser board in order for the old camper to fit the new '07 bed, thus creating that gap. If I could figure out how to post pics. on this site I'd shoot a photo. The camper guys say Dodge guys notice this all the time when they sell them a popup. It's especially noticable on the 8' bed.

On my 3rd gen Dodge, 05, I discovered that the rear of the bed to rail height was a little more then the front or the bed to rail height. I believe it was about 1/2 to 3/4" difference. Don't ask me why. I discovered that difference when I first purchased my 05 and I loaded my then, Lance camper in the bed. The camper was going to come down on the rail at the rear of the bed. I had the the factory bedliner in the bed and I had to add a full size thick rubber mat to gain a little extra heigh. The advantage to all this is that, with the bedliner screwed to the bed and with the rubber mat in place, the camper would never slide. I also had the HappiJac tiedowns. My 2nd gen Dodge, 95, was the same depth, front and rear.

The front to rear thing doesn't bother me too much, the tank will be basically just forward of the center line of the fender wells.
