Can anyone give me the run down on removing the bed on a 2013 dually. Mine was damaged. I found a color matched take off replacement in Texas and will be going to get it in a couple of weeks. Thanks. Chris

Chris,

Would you like me to post the removal steps from the factory service manual?

I haven't done it, but it looks pretty simple.

23 - Body / Exterior / BOX, Pickup / Removal

1. Disconnect the fuel filler neck from the fuel tank.

2. Remove the fuel filler from the cargo box and position it out of the way.

3. If necessary, remove the fuel filler door from the cargo box.

1. Open the fuel filler door.

2. Remove the two bolts that secure the fuel filler door to the cargo box and remove the door.

4. Disconnect the tail lamp wire harness from the underbody wire harness.

5. If necessary, remove the tail lamp units and wire harness from the cargo box.

6. If necessary, remove the tailgate.

1. Open the tailgate and locate the tailgate check cable on the left and right of the cargo box below the tailgate striker as necessary.

2. Pry the cable lock tab(s) outward using a screwdriver or flat bladed tool and remove the tailgate check cable(s) from the cargo box.

3. If equipped, disconnect the electrical connectors.

4. Partially close the tailgate so that the notch in the right side tailgate pivot pocket aligns with the flats on the right side tailgate pivot pin.

5. Lift the tailgate upward far enough to disengage the tailgate pivot pocket from the right side tailgate pivot pin.

6. Carefully slide the tailgate to the right far enough to disengage it from the left side tailgate pivot pin and remove the tailgate.

7. If necessary, remove the rear bumper.

1. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

2. Remove the license plate.

3. Remove the bolts behind the plate.

4. Support the bumper with a suitable lifting device.

5. Remove the bolts attaching the bumper support brackets to the trailer hitch.

8. Remove the bolts (3) that secure the cargo box (1) to the frame (2) (six short box, eight long box) and remove the cargo box.

Do you mind if I ask what the replacement bed cost you? I would like to get a CM SK bed and want to know what I might get for my bed if I sold it on the open market.

In Sherman Tx. there is a 2012 silver longbed w/tailgate, tailights, bedliner and hitch, bed is in near perfect condition, fits 3/4 ton or single wheel 1 ton, 800.00-- on CL.

CT did you ever remove the bed and was the step by step procedure the other guy gave you on here helpful? I want to do the same thing to my 2014 tradesman crew cab long bed 4x4 drw. Thanks, and if anyone else has any input, would be greatly appreciated... Just an FYI, I am doing this and planning on leaving it off and using as a cab and chassis in order to haul a particular low profile goosekneck trailer for cars.... Thanks

Thank you for the reply/info.

They come off a lot harder that having been torque to 80 lbs, as they had a lock tight material OEM on them. There was a thread about one twisting off on removal a while back. A rattle gun might be in order. SNOKING
