I always said I would never get a bedliner; after all, they are trucks, but after getting a new truck, I may change my mind. (the wife won't let me live this one down. ) Anyway, is anyone familar with the Mopar commercial bedliner? I am interested in that one because it has a flat spot in the center for a fith-wheel hitch. Do drop in liners interfer with the hitch? The trailer is a few years down the road though; can't afford a new truck and trailer. Are bed mats a good product? I'm leaning away from the spray-in liners because I think I would like something removable. As for the fith-wheel set up; where is the plug for the trailer's lights and brakes? Is a line run from the plug next to the factory receiver?
Thanks in advance.
Bob

Bob,
I had the OEM bedliner put in when I bought the truck, what a mistake!
The thing doesn't come close to fitting right. As soon as I can I'm having mine Rhino lined!!!

I recommend the bed mat. I have a '96 2 wheel drive Ram that I put in the day I bought it and what a mistake. It chafed and rubbed the paint off on serveral areas on the bed.

I have a fifth wheel hitch on my 2000 and I trimmed a bed mat around it and my below bed level tool box. very happy with results.

Hope this helpe decide.

Bob, I put a liner in my truck when I bought it in 1992. While it is o. k. I wouldn't do it again. Anything that you put in the back slides all over the place unless you tie it down. The other problem is unless you fastened the liner down at least on mine from the vibration you will get some abrasion marks. The next time I will get a spray in liner and place a sheet of half inch plywood or a heavy rubber mat on top of the bed.

Don't get a slide-in liner if you care anything about your truck. I had a dodge liner put in mine the day I bought it. When it was taken out for the Rhino Liner, I could not believe what was under it. NO PAINT. The paint was just scrubed off. The new liner took care off that.
Now I take as good a care of my truck as I can and the looks of the bed was just plain embarrassing. The Rhino liner is not care free but I know there on is nothing under it but steel.
Good luck on what ever you purchase.

I my bed line-x,d which i,m real happy with & I also put a good mat in which is great for stopping a load from sliding around & also a lot easier on the old knees when you have to do anything in the bed.

Spray in liner fan, here. Don't like the idea of rubbing paint off and having moisture between the liner and the bed just rusting my metal away.
A word of caution: I have seen safety warnings about filling gas cans in the back of a truck with a plastic bed liner. Something about the flowing fuel, static sparks, etc. Just to be safe, with any type of liner, put the gas can on the ground and fill it there, then put it back in the bed.

I also had a mopar liner installed in my last truck, a 2500 gasser. What a mistake !!! As stated above, the fit was horrible and it wore the paint on all edges that it made contact with. I have a Penda bed mat for now, but will probably go with a spray liner down the road.

I like the rubber bed mats. Things will NOT slide around when they're in, and they can be removed when moving furniture or other items you WANT to be able to slide around. They're a whole lot cheaper than the spray-in ones, too!

I have had the Rhino Linings in my bed for the last four years now and I've abused it and it still looks as good as day one. I spray it with Armor All before going to shows and it's flawless. Remember, filling Diesel Fuel into cans in the beds of your trucks will not be susceptible to the spark causing fires thing like gasoline is.

Your pick:
1. Drop-In is slippery, will wear off the paint and limits available space.
2. Spray-In grips the load, protects the metal and retains space.

The ole 92 had a drop-in replaced with a Armacoat spary-in and a rubber mat placed on top to hold the camper in place even better. If I was to do it again it would be Armacoat or Line-X. which are both sprayed in hot.

If you go with the drop-in or just a mat you will need to cut opening in it for the 5th wheel hitch so it mounts metal to metal. You can mount the hitch over the spray-in if you go that route.

Bob,
I had a bedliner on my last truck and will not do it again. I use a bed mat and really like it. As for the trailer wiring, I bought a piece of cable and wired male and female plugs on the ends to match the trailer and truck. It is just an extension cord that trailer cord plugs into and other end goes over the tail-gate to the truck plug. It is secured to the hitch base with plastic zip-tie and when not in use, it coils up and stores in hitch base under the cradle.

I took the bed liner out of my truck. At 33K miles paint was gone in several spots. Spend the extra and get a sprayin or bed mat at least. IMHO stay away from bed liners.
My fiver plug is spliced into the stock plug.
