All Your Truck Wants For X-Mas 2005 Is ...........

Dodge Caravan heat/ac blower

just for ****'s and giggles..... new LBZ motors seems to have impressed several of them..... but it also seems like the chevy's were suffering from a significant amount of lag / defeuling on the low end... . looks like the lbz might have addressed that, as well as the new allison appears to have been significantly beefed up..... also per typical, they're all ranting about how much better it'll be / is than the dodge / ford... ..... I'm gonna have to buy a box soon... . they wont have one available for their brand new motors for at least 6 months..... hell a 610 and an xzt will make more power than the lbz... .

you would think dodge could have at least added a good torque converter to the 06's..... so much more performance for such little investment... . probably hanging tight for the 07 upgrade... . it's gonna suck if they go to a larger motor and a 5 or 6 speed auto..... i'll take a hit on the trade in... .

Just drive your truck and be happy. Don't worry so much about what the "Jone's" are driving or what is being offered next year (you'll fall into the computer trap always waiting for the next faster processor or high speed memory and not buying a PC today).

These things are becoming so damm complicated you need a NASA scientist to work on them.

Do yourself a favor, go find an old 12 valve like mine as a 2nd truck and have fun playing with it without all the electrical stuff. It'll take your mind of the "latest & greatest" stuff.

I couldn't agree with you more..... except for computer related products, i'm an it manager and get the latest of all electronics when they come out (need to be current on technology! :-laf )... . although i'd rather own a dirtbike shop and get the latest of those... .

Most likely the reason for a looser convertor is, emissions. Can't load the engine as well, to make it smoke.

Actually no, not emissions. A lose converter would actually make more emissions.

Its to preserve the drivetrain.

Meaning if they put in a better tc then they'd have to beef up the rest of the transmission? (perhaps a few other things)... Hopefully that's what they do with the 07/08 6Speed Auto... . build the complete unit right so that they can put the power to the ground. Suppose that's what I was getting at with this post originally... . sounds like Cheby invested in the allison and figured out how to get the power to the ground (unlike the previous itteration)... .

No matter what they do it is still just a Chevy powered by Isuzu. There is a local guy here with a birght screaming yellow d-max and he has a HUGE "DURAMAX" sticker (in yellow) pasted to his back window. I wonder why he doesn't have a "Powered by Isuzu" sticker instead? Why do you think it is that Dodge is the ONLY one to tout the actual manufacturer of their diesel engine? It would be friggen embarrassing to have an Isuzu badge on the side of the truck :-laf They still have smaller brakes, lighter frames, flimsier bodywork, front suspension designed for cars not trucks, the frame hangs below the body eight inches... I could go on and on, I owned two of them before I really wised up :( There has never been any comparison, the GM trucks make the best commuter cars, though IMO they have now fallen behind the '06 Dodge since DC upped the quality of the interior and features. They don't have the pulling power no matter what the numbers say. They don't have the chassis to support hard work either.

I get a kick out of that website myself. I used to post there when I owned those trucks. Did you notice how many "problem" threads there are compared to TDR? I just chuckle when I see guys in new GM or Ford diesels. Half an hour of research on the net and you would have to be a complete fool to buy one of those trucks. Here,here... . set me up with one of them thar problematic fifty thousand dollar trucks... . yeah right.

Well, I really only use mine as a commuter and dirtbike hauler... . dont really need the 2500, but wanted it. I really dislike the look of the chevy (80's styling and the lowest 4x4 stance), dont care about interiors (supposedly one of their selling points)... . becasue its a truck... . if i wanted a top notch interior, i'd get a bmw or lexus... . but I dont think i'd like the mud and dirt in it! re the ford/chevy sites... . downright scary, lots and lots of horror stories... . granted, they do have higher sales volumes... in the end, the owner has to live with his choice... . Love my truck

One minor difference to consider...

The Duramax is Isuzu technology, however, from what I understand the engines are actually built by a unit of GM.

Dodge gets the Cummins engines by the crate assembled from Cummins.

Not stating anything good or bad about either, just the fact that GM does essentially "build" the Duramax.
