Part numbers

dayco #89219

priced ranged from $86 - $121 for the same

assembly, those were priced through Advanced Auto parts, Autozone, Carquest, champion.

Gates #38157

Found at napa for $148 and at oreillys for $132, napa lists number as NBH38157 and application for the same assembly through 2002 model cummins diesel in dodge truck. I thought that gates was a part on napa but oreilly's beat napa's price.

Cummins priced one at $113 but not sure what brand it was.

Dodge priced one at $163 not sure what brand that was.

The hard part was finding one, nobody in town had the dayco! Napa did not have the gates over a two day wait, only oreillys had the gates. Cummins had one, and dealer had one that they could get to me next day.

I bought the gates, comes with steel flat pulley not the plastic, and has a 1/2" drive rachet instead of the 3/8" dayco I took off, only because it was close, and the dayco that came off my truck had worn really bad. And i had to get one as the truck broke down about 50 miles away from home  and chewed a month old gates belt.

All prices are list prices, I searched for this stuff on here last night and didnt come up with much, so i thought I would list what I came up with to help the next person out.

According to my searching you are able to replace the plastic pulley with a flat steel pulley either from practical solutions $50 which is 3/8 wider, and Dayco lists a flat steel pulley #89007 but i did not see if it works? There is also listings for a grooved pulley for the non a/c trucks dayco number #89008 and napa #38016 but did not see if they work?

There is a listing for a L. D. which I assume was light duty assembly dayco # 89215 which i did not look at but thought I would list.

Glad your truck is repaired. I just replaced mine this morning with a Dayco that was in stock at Pep Boys. I removed the original Cummins tensioner and it was stamped with Dayco as well. Both had plastic pully. The original was 3/8" for the serp belt tensioner tool and the new part has a 1/2" holefor the serp belt tensioner tool. Pep Boys was $89. 99.
