Where can I get another bolt for my belt tensioner pulley. I snaped the old one off trying to change the pulley and yes I was turning it the right way for a left handed thread. Damn aluminum.

I doubt that you will be able to buy just the bolt new. I would try the wrecking yards, I suspect several different vehichles might have the same bolt. bg

Its a T45-T50 torx shoulder bolt , which is likely metric thread, amybe M8-M10(pulley to tensioner bolt). ITS RH THREAD, that's why it broke. The bolt that holds the tensioner to the a/c, oil cooler, alternator bracket is an M8 bolt (course thread) about 80mm?

Good and snug with a 3/8 dr rachet and 3/8 dr. torx bit is plenty, you can add a drop or two of blue lock tite if your worried.

Maybe a good bolt supply can fix you up (change over to SAE shoulder bolt and drill and tap with sae threads). Assure the bearings in the pulley aren't being preloaded or enough to say so.

Good luck

Andy

The fan clutch is LH thread. Not the tensioner.

John Deere usues a similar tensioner on the newer equipment. Their P/N for the shoulder bolt is R98250. May be the same one. Don't know for sure.

Repair manuel lied, it was right hand

And I went and bought a new tensioner but I will look in too the bolt from John Deere to see if it is the same. Thanks

You can get just the bolt from a Case tractor or construction dealer... have them look up almost any 5. 9L engine used; I got a bolt for my 1998 24V belt tensioner from a Case dealer. Same bolt as in a model 5140 tractor.

HAD IT HAPPEN TO ME ALSO

When i changed my old tensionor out i called the Dealer, i won't say which one and the mechanic i talked to said oh it is 95lbs with a torgue wrench i was thinking thats way to much, so anyways i get the torque wrench and Wammm she snapped, I had just enough shoulder to back the old bolt out with a pair of needle nose pliers.

I went to a local guy that knows his nuts and bolts, he gave me a Grade 8 bolt so the best of my reculection and i tightened that one down by hand with a regular socket and have had no problems with it coming loose of course im one of these pple that can torgue lug nuts with a lug wrench to well over 100ft lbs without thinking, so i took it easy on my new bolt.

But to say the least i :--) freaked out when it happend thinking i was going to have to take the entire piece off the truck until i figured out the hole the bolt goes thru is open on the back side but thank goodness their was enough to get to with the needle nose.
