2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Bent the front of the bed

Well... My four wheeler came forward and bent the front of the bed. Not real bad, I actually pulled it back by hand (don't tell the Furd guys!!). I have aluminumn diamond plate side and tailgate caps, now I need a GOOD, THICK functional cap for the front... are there any available...

Dee-Zee or Deflecta Shield I believe both make diamond plate front caps that match the side ones. One of them also makes one that lips the front like a cap & continues down the entire wall on the inside of the bed. Wth the gate open it looks like the entire front wall is diamond plate. Try one of your local accessory shops. Hope this helps... . Andrew

Yes, after the metal is bent once, it loses its strength forever. I had some very heavy gage stainless that I had a metal shop press brake into a snug fitting "U". I hand straightened the bed and drove this over the damaged part, and secured with stainless round head allens & nylocks. Clean and STRONG!

The first thing I did after I bought my truck was to go to a hardware store and buy a 6' piece of angle iron. Paint it to match and bolt it to the front of the bed. Cost $15 with paint and solved the problem.

I did the same thing on an '83 F350 and added two fingers to locate the front of a huge cabover camper. It made a big difference!
