This is a strange saga. I've seen people with well over 100,000 miles on the rigs. They never knew they had a lift pump. I volunteer to check their pressure and (drum roll) 15PSI and 7-8WOT. SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY SOME LP'S LAST AND LAST AND OTHERS DONT. I know a person with a 99 and well over 100k, pressure is just fine AND HE HAS THE FACTORY LP.

I had 70,000 miles on my first one and it was just beginning to show somewhat low pressure WOT so I replaced, and it now rides in the tool box as a spare.

I plan to add one of these kits as soon as I can convince PayPal I'm really me  #@$%!

Atleast the LP will be in an easier spot to change out :-laf

I read another thread where the FASS was failing out too due to corrosion of some internal connection.

There has to be a better solution than putting the fuel tank on top of the cab.

The LP that is in it is origional and has 69000 miles on it. Every truck seems to have a different personality kinda like co-workers, some you get steady consistent work and attendance and some you never know if there gonna show up or if there planning on working if they do! :-laf

Can't afford the FASS right now and the kit was a low buck fix that i'm happy with. If my LP goes out then I'm sure a FASS will be in order, but I've never had a LP go out before, guess I'm one of the lucky ones so far(knock on wood)

I just did'nt like the idea of the pusher pump adding another link to go bad, FASS is expensive and seems like overkill to me and the Flow kit, plus relocating the LP away from the engine and making it push more than pull just made sence to me. If i do end up with the FASS, half the plumbing work is now done also. I still am happy as a clam every time I look at my guage!

Carter VS FASS

There is NO cheap fix for this guys. I've been down this road before. 1st the carter pusher pump and stock lift pump with 6-AN fittings and hose, it worked great but the pumps never lasted. So I went to the Carter 4601hp at the tank, still it provided plenty of pressure but never lasted long, my last one went 2 weeks before failure. Tha Carters are JUNK, and FYI the Cummins LP is a CARTER. I finally went with the FASS so I could stop keeping a spare LP and not worry about toasting my $1200 VP44 because an$90 pump quit again. Just one man's opinion!

Your right... The Carters are junk! But then again, the FASS is an "Electric Pump" that will fail. There have already been failures with the FASS. The difference between the FASS & the Carter is probably betwwen $200-$300 dollars. I'm not saying the FASS is the same as the Carter but there both electric pumps & they both will fail. I'm on my 3rd LP & not thrilled about it but until I can afford the Rasp System I'll stick with the Carter LP relocated. As mentioned earlier, at least it's alot friggin easier to swap out now. Just one humble Cummins owners opinion.

Clay :p

Installed the Vulcan LP relocation kit this weekend along with installing new LP from Hoesli Diesel. Simple job, now have 15psi at idle and can't get it below 10-11 if I try.

This website has been extremely helpful on too many occasions to list. Keep up the good work.
