Best 4x4 DRW long bed HO auto 3.73 fuel mileage?

I get 15 city and road. I got 14 city and road before my mods. I never drive over 70 and I live 15 minutes from town. My average speed is 45-55. I get the same mileage with the Banks set on 6 as I do with it set on 1. I've got 40,000 miles, the first twenty were hard towing. I'm running Mobil1.

My truck is a stick and has 3:73 rear end. Best tank was 20. 5. Mostly local driving 45-50 mph and very conservative driving. Typical highway and harder acceleration yields about 18mpg.

I would imagine that if you have 4:10 gears and auto trans your mileage could be less. How many miles? Mine went up a couple MPG after a long trip in the mountains with the camper that I feel may have broke the motor in.

One other reason could be your short trips. 15 minutes isn't long enough for the truck to come up to full temp where best mileage is achieved.

I have an 04 with the 48RE. The best I have ever gotten is 16. 9 mgh. Most of the time is around 15. My truck weighs 8860#'s with a full load of fuel (97 Gal) and myself.

I have to say that even with 4:10's the mileage isn't bad, at 70mph and topped off i can achieve 620miles on a 34gal tank.

Recent driving test is 50-55mph, and so far at half tank have achieved 330miles(take in mind that is topped off including the filler neck) so if this continues im looking at 660miles, and i have an auto. I do drive further distances and no stop and go traffic, nearest town 20min away and work is 45min away on mountain roads.

Maybe i got lucky with the engine i have but i sure ain't complaining. Oo.

My best mileage has been mid 21s if I have the cruise set at 52mph. I average in the 16s on a per-tank basis, which is about 75% highway in a typical week. That's about a 10% drop from what my 1996 12-valve got... I attribute that to the 05's three-shot injection, poorer aerodynamics, and increased weight (a good 1000 pounds heavier than the 96). Best mpg on the 96 was 24. 3 over 265 miles - a lot of cruise at 57mph, but some rural roads at 35 and a few mountain hills that I downshifted to second.

I just traded in my 03 HO with the 6 gun. . I got 17 around town, 19 @70mph, 21@ 55. . I just got a 05 and I am getting 12-13 @ 70mph and 15 @ 55mph. . Dealer stated all in in specs?? By the way if you are using plain Mobil 1, it is not rated for diesel engines
