Amsoil Air Filters

You might consider the nanofilter dropins from Amsoil. My friends '05 stopped pulling the filterminder down since installing one. Dry type filter and good for 100,000 miles according to Amsoil. I got mine from blacksheep 4x4.

Scott Dalgleish commented on this in Issue 54 page 126 since he was always sucking down the filter minder on his turned-up 05. Looks like he tried several, but didn't say what brands (or if any of them were the AFE):

"We went on to try several different aftermarket filters. They included filters made with oiled foam, paper, and the ever-popular wet gauze filters. Each time the results were the same: the filter was clean and the filter minder displayed a restriction under heavy throttle. On some applications we even experienced slight black smoke with heavy throttle. . . . so I bought two filters (Amsoil part number EaA 189) and we both tried them [one was for Dave Perea]. The problem went away. No more restriction. No more smoke. "

Air filter

Air Filter... ..... EAA189 AMSOIL Ea Air Filter

Air Filter... ..... 42846 WIX 42846 Air Filter

You can go to the website below and read about these two filters. I personally like the AMSOIL. The number to the left is the product number. It has the best air flow and filtering as any air filter on the market today. Make your own decision but research before you buy.

In my 06 i went with the Airaid Jr kit(pn#300-728), it come with the high flow drop in(pn#850-357) and a modular intake tube(pn#KIT928T). Its a very nice kit and the total cost was $92 and some change! Autoanything.com is where i picked mine up!

The Amsoil EAA is so far the best that I have tried. Believe me I have tried many different brands of filters in my transport trucks, and so far the EAA comes out on top. My local dealer was so impressed with the amount of dirt the EAA catches ,that when somebody comes into thier service center and asks for a good filter they get refered to me.

True Flow,,, works GREAT! No dirt gets past, and it never pulls down.

I also run the S&B it works just as good. I believe the S&B is 6ply. The Diesel version has more material then the gasser. :D

The K&N is what i was gonna go with till i seen the price and figured for a bit more i could get rid of the stock baffle for alittle better flow.

id like to see them compared side by side in a chart with flow and micron rating listed respectively

sure a "high flow" filter wont suck down your filter minder. ive seen first hand the dust a "high flow" filter will let through... .
