Thanks!

Do these filters come with a flange that the air hose fits over, or does this need to be fabricated or purchased separately?

How much better do these flow than the stock box?

Anyone have part numbers? Where to buy? Etc...

Thanks guys.

From what I have seen two things lower EGTs as far as air filters are concerned. 1) less restriction, so the bigger filter should drop EGTs some because of more filter area than the stock flat filter and restrictive housing.

2) drawing cool air, the cooler the air is to start with the easier it is to keep it cool.

The cover for the BHAF restricts flow about 10% according to the info that comes with the cover. I figured that it is worth the loss to protect it from the water that gets in there once in a great while. I think it cost me about $25 but I can not remember for sure. The guy at outterwears know the TDR well and they have the cover in stock. It is kind of like a little gor-tex jacket for your filter. Once I get my new BHAF (on back order for two months so far) I am going to take the hose to my old one with the cover on it and see what happens.

The BHAF flows way better than stock and you can get them from any fleetguard dealer. Napa as well as several other filter makers make a similar filter. I don't have the part numbers with me but if you search for BHAF on here you will find a post with the #'s in it.

I don't know who is making the heat shields these days, mine was made my a Mallory but he quit and sent out the pattern to others. Someone was making stainless ones for a while.

The filter has a flange on it and fits on the end of the hose that connects to the air box. Some guys put a piece of exhaust pipe or something in to stiffen it up a bit but I have not found that necessary.

Then I can make a nice heat shield and suck air from outside the hood. All this for around 150$, plus the cool factor. Any body have idea on where to get a good scoop that will fit offcenter? Looked in summit, Jegs, and some mustang magazines. I would like to fine a place that has them in stock so I can see them in person. Anybody know a good shop in Utah?

Being a boat guy, I'd say any marine supply store should have what you are looking for. try boatus.com or westmarine.com

They make tons o different STAINLESS;) vents in all shapes, sizes and directions.

I run a BHAF with a stainless "mallory mount" made by another TDR member, my appologies to the gentleman who made it, can a 30 year old have a senior moment? Can't remember his name.

Mount and filter for less than $80. Got filter from local Cummins shop.

I have the bhaf and it works great for me. I saw one the other day and a guy had put a peace of stove pipe over the filter. He used some rubber spacers on it to keep the filter away from the pipe so the air could flow around the filter. The only thing I did not do is ask what size of pipe.

Has anyone considered putting an intake opening in the side of the hood with some kind foam gasket so the outside air would go into the filter? Maybe some louvers or other decorative means could be used as a hole in the hood.

cm,

yes, I got my mount from Jason, It is perfect for the job, I modified it slightly to protect the battery and an AC line from the sharp edges. Jason did an outstanding job building these.
