got an 00 LB, 4. 5" SJ lift, 5 spd (stock clutch), 3:55's. only upgrades are i removed the muffler and have a AFE pro gaurd 7 conical filter. want some REALIABLE power--whats the best bang for the buck gentleman? injectors, box? you tell me. TIA Oo.

You will need a box first, the edge comp is nice it has great power gains and it boost fools so if you wanted injectors and or with to run high boost( tricking waste gate) it wont de-fuel engine. If you just want a little more the EZ or Diablo box work well.

The addition of a fueling box will be the best at giving you that "seat of the pants" increase that you are probably looking for. If you plan on doing any other upgrades later, try to buy a box now that will work best in your overall plan.

The Comp is a great suggestion. It offers in cab adjustibility, plus it will work great with a future Injector upgrade that you WILL be doing. ;) My only caution is, your stock clutch may not like the upper levels of the Comp, especially with any kind of load. Just keep that in mind.

If you are really looking for something cheap, easy and safe, I'll vote for a used Edge EZ with the boost elbow. There's a good chance you can get one right here in the TDR Classified for cheap. It's more of Pop than a Bang, if you get my drift. Why are they for sale used... because they are usually the first bite from the bombing bug. There's nothing like a taste of power to start the craving.

The sage advice of 'build it right the first time' is great if you:

a. have the patience

b. have the ultimate plan

c. have or can get the funds

For the rest of us, a little more power now that doesn't break the bank or the truck is a pretty reasonable deal.

I won't be selling my EZ any time soon because I know that the power level I want requires fortified Air, Fuel and Drivetrain infrastructure. I'm excercising my patience and saving the funds in order to do it right in the long run, Besides, I still have some warrenty left ;)

Have fun in your quest,

Neil

Cup smoothie = $35

Best money I've ever spent, I kid you not! It don't give you power, but it sure makes driving nicer.

Next to that, my DTT transmission... nothing touches these built autos... they're expensive, but man are they nice! I'm heading down to Phoenix tomorrow morning to do the second round of upgrades so she'll be able to go full tilt.

Save your money, buy stuff once! I've spent thousands that I wish I hadn't because later I found what I really wanted.

I have to dissagree with the buy stuff once stuff... . If I could afford to do that on everything I've ever modified I'd be money ahead in the long run..... BUT there is a learning curve that goes with starting small and getting bigger... . Not to mention if I could afford to just buy everything I want at one time, I wouldn't be worried about the money anyway... .

That being said, if I did it over again, I'd spend a couple hundred more $$$ and get the Edge Comp box and leave the pump wire untapped, instead of getting the EZ. And run it that way until I can upgrade the transmission. BUT I only spent $300 on the EZ used so it's not like I'm out lotsa $$$ or anything... . Plus you sometimes don't know what you really want till you try something...

:-laf :D

Definitely a box is the best first upgrade. What I haven't seen in the comments is that if you do get a box, splurge a little more and go for gauges too. Boost is nice but not absolutely necessary at first, but EGT and Fuel Pressure gauges should be considered part of the upgrade to a box.

That's my humble opinion... .

TST, Edge Comp, both are nice boxes. I have the Comp and am happy with it even though I have not pierced the pump wire.

HTH.

I'd go with a TST or Comp. Just prepare yourself for the mass exodus of cash from your wallet which will soon follow ;)

been through alot of parts over 4 years. my vote goes for Injectors and Catcher ecm reflash

there is no comparison to a fueling box and the ecm upgrade

just my . 02

I haven't had a box on my truck, but have driven a couple with them. My first and only BOMB right now is the BD III's and the Boost Fooler, and I love them, nice smooth, even power. I bought them used off of here, so only out $400 and didn't have to give my cores to anybody. So, I'm all for injs, but nothing against boxes either. Just figured that I'd give my two cents. BTW I love the quote in your profile. God Bless, James

Injectors alone at altitude = bad deal! more smoke than power! If you're anywhere over about 2000' msl you should have a timing box on especially to act as a boost fooler to help those injectors along... otherwise you'll look like a freight train, even when your tubo lites up!
