I have a 97 5spd that is completely stock right now. I would like some more power, but don't want to send bucks on a clutch or turbo at this point. What would be the best bang for the buck for me for now? I was thinking GSK and a fuel plate of some sort... . just which one I don't know. I will probably get some injectors, turbo and a clutch maybe next year and don't want to buy a fuel plate again. I will of course be putting gages in first. Any opinions and advice would be appreciated.

TIA

GSK for sure.

Also if you buy a TST plate, I think they will exchange it if you want to up/downgrade in the future. (At least that's what I was told when I bought mine. )

I had a stock clutch with a #11 plate and stock 215 injectors. The clutch held fine.

What are you wanting to do with the truck?????

Rick

Thanks for all the replies so far. I am using the truck as a daily driver. Just like to have more power for passing on the highway and keeping up in town. I really notice that it needs to rev out more compared to the 6spd truck I used to have in order to make a good transition to the next gear. Hopefully the GSK will fix that. It will tow a 6K lb trailer on very rare occasion in the winter to get 4 sleds up to the mountains.

I got the 370's from Piers. He said it would add about 45-50HP across the power band for the 215HP engine. Feels like about that! MPG's are about the same.

It's really nice to have some more power right off the idle.

I have an #11 plate in the garage (also from Piers) but I think I should wait for a cluch before putting it in.

If you don't want to buy a new clutch right now I would first get guages, then get the GSK, and then slide my factory plate.

Oh find someone to advance your timing to 16* before top dead center. The correct way to set timing on a P7100 pump is by using a dial indicator on the #1 delivery valve(for reference in finding a knowledgable shop).

Until you can afford a South Bend I wouldn't mess with plates. When you get your South Bend get a #10 or better!!Oo.

Oh and stay away from TST clutches (not trying to knock, actually telling why give me a second  ) if you haul any trailers at all be it part-time or full time.

Cold Diesel, to address your concerns with regards to best bang for the buck on a 2175 CPL:

0. Killer Dowel Pin

1. Gauges

2. Resonable Fuel Plate - #11

3. G. S. K. and Advance Pump Timing

4. Turbo - your choice, you know the drill

5. Clutch

6. Injectors

7. AFC Spring

8. Go Back to 2. and repeat with larger components:D

You will enjoy the 12V, talk to you later,

Marc.

i think you will really like the 11 plate and the afc. i have some gov spring kit but need to install. if i really get on it and speed shift the clutch will slip but that could be because the clutch has 162,000 miles. and i also have timing at 16 deg. from stock to this set up is great, for the money :D

Definately find someone to advance the timing to 16*. I gained 1. 5 (non-recalibrated for 33" tires) at the pump with just that BOMB alone! (course mine had slipped to 10-or-11*)

Went over to MDKram's today and put a #11 plate and a BHAF on her (thanks Marc!!). Its quite a bit better now... ... but still underpowered. Next step is to find more $$$:D
