I was just wondering what you think is the best bang for the buck when bombing these trucks? My truck is totally stock engine wise at the moment, and I am getting ready to start bombing it. I am kind of $$ limited at the moment as I only have about 1K extra to spend for now, and want the most I can get for the small amount of bucks I have. I do not want to be my own warantee provider yet though as I only have about 9K miles on the truck so far. The local stealer is really bad for voiding warantees I hear from other people. Your suggestions would be appreciated.

TIA

For the ETH I would get an EZ or TTPM and guages and call it good until you can do the clutch, all of it should be well under $1K. After the clutch I would drop a set of DD2's in it and be done with the bombing.

cold Diesel - welcome to the slippery slope of BOMBing.

First and foremost - get guages - EGT, boost and fuel pressure run from around $200 to sky's the limit.

I think you will find many recommendations for the Edge EZ box (about $500+/- - shop around) - easily fitted and removed.

With regard to ease of install/removal I would then go for an airbox such as Scotty or Afe or Volante or just get a BHAF. Any of these can be easily removed to allow replacement of stock box.

I was going to warn you that the airboxes will be quite a bit louder but then I reread your sig and I think you can compensate for that by increasing the S/N ratio :D

Your $1000 will stretch that far if you shop around.

TTPM= True Torque Power Module, it is essentially an Edge EZ with Diesel Dynamics fueling and timing parameters in it. It is sold by Diesel Dynamics. I much prefer it over the EZ, the timing is less aggressive and it has a timing only setting. I do not care for the EZ, but it is loved by the majority of the membership. In my experience the EZ makes the engine quite a bit louder where the TTPM actually makes it quieter than stock. The Van Aaken CPC (also sold as the BD Plug &Power) is also a good choice if you do not have the big yellow void sticker on the back of the injection pump. The power gain from all I have mentioned is very close. Hope this helps.

Actually Howard on my truck the EZ made it quieter! Effects of altitude up here maybe? Our fuel differences? ETH? I dunno..... I would really like to see a TTPM in action to see the difference-maybe one of these days I'll get a chance. I am going to pull the pin and get the DragUFM programming from DD for my DragCOMP to try back-to-back and see which one puts the cloud in the Silver Cloud! :D

If I had it all to do over again..... I probably would have bit the bullet right off the get-go and chose the COMP. I love the adjustability-and it's really not a lot more than the EZ.....

Alex-if you wanna chat about BOMBing-type stuff over the phone PM me again-I'll give you my cell # and we can talk about it in real time.

I'm using Bryan K's puter as I'm in Santa Rosa for some ghost flames:D ... Jason get this new lad some info 'bout the diesel stampede. . !! he'll get all he needs to know and then some plus meet the gearheads

Hey guys could you explain a little more about the yellow sticker on the back of the pump I have a bd plug-power and now one ever mentioned a sticker thanks for the help

Got to agree with Mark_Kendrick here. IF you can MAKE yourself do it get a COMP and only use the lower levels. As you add Bombs (clutch, exhaust, pusher pump, injectors, turbo, air box, cam, etc. $$$$$$$) you can turn up the fuel. This will still leave you with plenty of dough to BUY GAUGES and put them on first. One more thing -"WARRANTY, WE DON'T NEED NO STINKING WARRANTY"-:D :D Good luck, there are lot's of good products out there to fill your need.

void sticker

DC finally caught on and slapped some VOID stickers on the ECM and on the wiring harness of the injection pump. not to worry though! if you look hard enough, you can find people who have these stickers in case a trip to the stealer is necessary:D i think some ofthe new "Boxes" come with replacement void stickers... ... james

Cold Diesel,

You said you wanted to keep your warrenty and the local dealer is notorious for canceling warrentys.

My best advice would be to forget about the bombing or forget about your warrenty, one or the other, you cannot have both. A good service rep can detect any fueling device you add, it leaves a trace in the ECM.

Sorry for being so blunt but you are the one that will be hurt in the end if you don't make up your mind which one is more important to you.

It seems you guys didn't pay attention when Cold Diesel said he needs to keep his warranty.

Add a fueling box (the Comp) and you warranty his history!

The only thing you'd get away with is an EZ or TTPM.

Even an EZ or TTPM could possibly be detected by a sharp DC mechanic.

They leave a "history" of boost and fueling in the ECM.

Some dealers are less anal than others regarding modifications.

No matter what he does he will void most of the warranty. he does not have to pierce the pump wire if he wants to keep the VP44 warranty. but the warranty on the engine itself is voided when the boost elbow and fooler take over.

BOMBs and complete warranties are mutually exclusive.

What Mark said..... If you HAVE to have a warranty... then you should not Bomb.

I don't think a sharp DC mech (if one exists) can see the results of BOMBing in the ECM, but I know a sharp Cummins Mech can...
