I am fixing to replace the brake pads on my wifes truck and am wandering what pads you guys have had the best luck with. When I bought her truck, it had new pads on it, but they sqeak like crazy, so I'm trashing them. The stock ones are pretty darn good. Is there something better for the money?

From NAPAonline.com. Front from $21. 99 to $68. 99 and rear $21. 99 to 91. 49 for an 03 3500 SRW. If have a store nearby they may be cheaper. Good luck.

Can't even begin to think about how many aftermarket pads I've seen removed because of noise issues and factorys put on in place of them. Napa brand also. Every time I ever convinced myself to try a set I always ended throwing them in the trash bin. If they work ok more power to you but unless its something I'm taking to the auction its factory all the way.

When ever i have replaced the pads on our service trucks at work with aftermarket they wear them out and need replacing at the next oil change(6k kms). When replacing with factory pads they last an aweful lot longer(30k kms) or longer.

Just replaced my factory pads at 27,000 with Performance Carbon Friction Metallic from Auto Zone. about $45 bucks. They seem just like the factory ones. I have only 3,000 on mine so cant tell you how they will wear. Ive used them on other cars and trucks and seem as good or better than factory pads. Brake squeal can be caused by an untrue rotor moving the pads as it rotates comming accross as a squeak as the metal back rubs against the caliper piston. I'd machine the rotors with the brake job.

ChrisKringle is right the EBC's are hard to beat;

A refined version of the famous EBC Yellowstuff race formulation is now available in pad designs to fit popular American trucks/pick-ups. This fast growing market for diesel engined trucks with horsepower increases has thrown up a black hole requiring a performance pad to fit these makes and models that will stop even the fastest driver in a heartbeat.

Average friction coefficient 0. 6 with similar dust to original pads.

Yellowstuff diesel performance range is a high friction aramid fiber pad, very low in its dust characteristics, totally resistant to brake rotor vibration, and easy on rotors.

Raybestos and Napa pads are made by the same company. the noise issue can be fixed by washing the rotor with small brush,soap and water. don't laugh it works, it gets the metal peices out of the face of the rotor. you can also use CRC P/N 05080

brake treatment this works very good. when picking a pad remember the more metal in a pad the more heat,noise and less rotor life
