LEER

Last July I drove out to Cleveland to vist Ohio Diesel Tech. I stopped by Olympic Camper In Parma, Ohio... really great people. I bought a cab high Leer cap with the Browning package. Top quality cap as far as I am concerned. Olympic ordered the cap for me and it took about 4 weeks for them to get it in. It was there ready and waiting for me when I drove out. Hope this helps!

my caps

My "dee zee" rail cap's are fine and roll down about one and a half inches from the top of the bed. they were shipped to my house for about 80 buck's they can be bent easy to conform to your tail gate but tought enough to take a beating. .

If you are picky be very patient. Tell the topper store your truck was a bad batch of paint and you want to drive it to the factory to get the match perfect. If they do not let you do this then request you send your gas lid cover to them for paint matching.

Remember that all the places that paint toppers are production paint systems. The match will not be exact. Since metal and fiberglass have different reflectivity they will not match unless you are color blind or have a speed shop paint your bare topper.

I had mine repainted and I am not satisifed with the color match or how banged/scratched up the glass is. There is overspray when they repaint and all those cheap sheetmetal screws have bigger holes now.

I still would buy another ARE Z series. I would just accept the difference in reflectivity or have it painted right.

Mine is very good looking inside, I had the gray mat on the shell inside and have a bed rug. My 8 foot bed looks like a super streched trunk!

Check Out Glastite

I've got a Glastite 2000 on my truck and I'm happy with it. One feature this model has that most others don't is a door that after you open it, you can push it forward and it slides in a track toward the front of the truck. It is nice when you are standing on the tailgate because it's out of your way. They are also more money than most.

I checked them all out and found that the newest mold for the SnugTop is the nicest fit. (This is for a cab high shell). I bought the SnugTopXV.

Be sure to get the sliding window at the front of the shell as you don't want to put a rubber boot between the cab and shell. On trucks with hard suspensions - the boot will rub through the paint!

Good luck and send me a PM if you want me to send you any photos of my shell.

Went with Leer!!!!

I bought a Leer today!. Listed for 1350. 00. I paid $995. 00 out the door, installed and all. It was a showroom unit, loaded to the hilt. I must admit, the fit to the bed is not up to my "Perfection". I had to have one today!!. The model is a 160xl. I would have preferred to have a model 220. They have a 2 inch higher door opening. I did not beleive that noone stocked these things. I was lucky to find one on 24 hours' notice. and less than 10 miles from my homestead.

Thanks to everyone that replied to my post
