Best chip for 06 - Economy and mid power upgrade.

While happy with stock power on my 06 3500, I keep hearing that an aftermarket chip could increase economy and power at the same time???



I am NOT a big black smoke tire burner type! Longevity and durability are my thing, not beating the other brand up a pass. I know, boring eh... Old 95 is over half million miles and I want this 06 to do the same.



Is there a chip that will enhance what's already there and give me even more safe power if / when needed?

Smarty Jr... more hp, more mpgs, and less EGT's... Best tuner you can get, other than the Smarty Sr.

I agree also. I have the Jr on my '07,5. 9 and after trying the different settings, I have settled on the 70hp setting with mild torque.
What does your '06 have for the trans? 4x4? With a stock auto, I would run it on the 40hp setting and mild torque. I can look up the # settings for the mild torque and low smoke that I have mine set at and will post later.

Thank you both. I have my first auto trans and it seems OK. Wanted the 5600 but just gave up on finding one, and the auto seems upgradeable if needed. Sounds like this chip would fit my profile nicely.

I have the Jr, does a real nice job. Increase in fuel mileage, lower EGT's, engine purrs like a kitten, whole new truck with it.

Smarty, Dr Performance, and a Quad product all come to mind. They each have their good and bad points but help with power and efficiency nicely.

Ceberusiam I would not recommend a pressure box like the Dr. Performance products his emphasis was on longevity. Injectors go south with too much pressure. My vote is for the JR as well. Makes my truck beat the other brands up the hill too though.

I have the Smarty Sr. and up until the last SW upgrade the sucker would smoke like crazy. Marco hit the nail on the head with the last SW upgrade and now there's virtually no smoke unless my foot is pinned. My mileage went up by several MPGs (hand calc'd) and the sheer drivability of the truck has improved dramatically. No lagg. . it drives like my wife's Armada... Marco... Could you do something with my wife's Armada's MPG???? I'd love that truck to be Smartified!

I too have been looking at the Smarty JR for my 06 2500, so is the model J-06. How difficult is it to use, I owned an Edge EZ on my older truck and you just plugged it in. Looks like this does some reprogramming. Where was the best place to purchase these?
