Competition Scott Bentz update...

Competition Smarty SSR

I never pulled with my Hankooks. But they work great off the track. I know a lot of trucks that used the Trxus STS. They worked on most tracks decently, but not all of them.

I would say boggers are the best pulling tires I have seen but and they are DOT approved but you can litteraly watch them wear.

Along the lines of the Original Poster, I too am interested in tire selection for sled pulling. Is it worth dedicated tires for this, or a decent, all-around tire, like BFG A/T? I would only be doing it for fun, not for $$$. I don't think my Nitto Dura Grapplers with highway tread would do too well, or would they????

I am running Hankook Dyna Pro and pull a 32' 5th wheel. So far I have about 12,000 miles on them since last November and I have been very happy with them. They are quiet and seem to be wearing well.

Their is no one tire that's best for all the variety of tracks out there but like rivercat says boggers seem to be pretty popular. I would also reccomend Mastercraft C/T's and Interco Trxus STS. The last set of tires I used were 385/50-18 Mickey Thompsons and they offered a good bite while allowing enough slippage to keep from breaking too many parts.

If you do a search back 6-7 years, you might find that himself--who needed a quad cab to get his head in and out of his truck--won many a pull using ordinary BFG all-season tires.

I loaned out my winter set of Kumo's, they are simto bfg mud terrain. (33 x 12. 50) Track was dug 18" deep - so it was loose. They hooked well, so well that the input shaft twisted and he had to drive home with a direct drive truck. Another pull this Fri...
