I'm on my second Dodge CTD and I'm looking for another exhaust brake for my 3500. The first truck I had was a Dodge 2500 CTD and I installed the Jake brand from Cummins. I could swear I lost power with that brake. The price was good for $575. 00. My engine was stock then. The 3500 I will massage a little and was looking into the Banks unit. Any comments would be appreciated.

Forget turbo mounted brakes... . go down stream in the exhaust. When you move the brake down stream in the exhaust. . you give the exhaust gas time to stop swirling before trying to go by the baffle of the exhaust brake.

I had a Pac Brake on mine and decided to take it off to check this out. I noticed a difference in the way the truck runs.

My next one will be a 4" remote unit

I love my BD 4" remote unit. Make sure you weld or seal your system UPSTREAM of the brake as it will find all your leaks. I find it VERY responsive (Woulda thought otherwise) and has a wicked loud Chirp when it releases :D Also is easier to service heaven forbid you have to.

I've had a Pac brake, BD 4" remote, and now a Jacobs on my 03. I couldn't tell any diff. , I think they all work good. JMHO.

US Gear Super duty here. I like it, but I have nothing to compare it with. Ditto what TMTT said, cool sound when it releases.

I have a US Gear D-Celerator remote brake. Love it. I did the air operated one to avoid the dc selenoid problems you can have with water etc and elec power.

It is a VERY substancially built unit. Heavy castings, large bearing surface for the main butterfly, has a seperate port bypass based on backpressure, joint gasket comes with it to insure a good seal to the exhaust manifold. Whole system is built to insure a full 4" flow when open.

I love it. It works really well with the speed control and DTT Smart Controller as a whole integrated system.

Make sure if you have an auto you do some kind of a lock up controller.

If you have an under/over drive unit I think that an exhaust brake will not work with a GV due to the design of the clutch system in the GV.

I enjoy it on warm ups. When I kick it off after idling for about three minutes, it "belches" a nice big black ball o' soot:D

I have the banks one and love it. it seems to me like it does everything they say. I have never had a minutes worth of trouble with it at all. I cant comment on the other because i have never had one nor driven a truck with one. The banks Brake is first class and i think that it now comes with a computer box. Not exactly sure what all it does i don't have one.
