This is how you can achieve the best fuel mileage ever!!!!

Feb 11th Drew "Blue-Beast" Wentworth heads to Dayton Ohio for a fun filled weekend... . on the 12th his beloved truck is borrowed by his cousin who experienced a engine stumble and stall... . Sunday the 13th Chris Poling and I head to Dayton Ohio! 4 hours later we arrive in the rain!

After slow attemps of using ratchet chain binders we get the rear of the truck on the trailer and its going SLOW!!!! (lack of tools) but we got a "come-a-long" that gets it further then we chock the trailer and pull it on with the ol' 12V.

I think it was around 2 hrs to get it loaded  IN THE RAIN so we pack 3 deep in the standard cab and head back to the wonderful state of Michigan! (6 crampt hours later)

Monday Feb 14 the truck us unloaded at Diesel Perfomance Systems where it turns out to be the dreaded VP 44 so after a few swipes of plastic drew gets himself a new toy :) a few hours of install along with valve adjustment, 60 hp injectors, holly blue pump, and some troubleshooting he was back to burning tires!! :-laf

You know you're a dieselhead when... you spend valentines evening at Applebees with 3 other diesel buddies covered in grease & #2 as you get eyeballed by everyone else :--) !! :-laf

(then you arrive to a very angry girlfriend later that night  )

You know, I was wondering what kind of engine powers that blue truck!! :D I had a hard time reading that small print on the tail gate!!!!!! :D :D :D

Wasn't there something posted here about when having a non-running rig with stacks being pulled backwards, to cover the tips of the stacks? I remember something about big rigs having the turbos spin because of it and wiping out the bearing...

CPoling's "big horn edition" is a 98 12V

we've always taped off the pipes on the turbo'd tractors when we haul em around here so I figured with the truck on the trailer and the pipes into the wind that it would be better to be safe than sorry

Please forgive my ignorance, but how could the air blow through the exhaust and get the turbo spinning? Even if it does make it down the stack and up to the turbo with enough speed, even after all those bends, too get thet turbine to spin a little, the air on the other side of the turbo must go through the engine and out the intake side before the air can move enough to get that turbine spinning. I'm not seeing this even if the engine stopped at a point where one cylinder was sitting at the overlap between exhaust and intake, and both valves were open just a little.

Am I missing something?

Thanks,

Chris
