Best gauge setup for '03?

Alright. Opinion time again. What's the best gauge setup for a mildly modded '03 with 6spd and 305 engine?

I was considering the white faced Isspro boost, egt, and rail psi gauges all with electric sending units and a 3 gauge A pillar from Geno's garage. The same thing in the Autometer brand is a little cheaper due to the boost gauge being mechanical and the rail psi gauge does not come with a "T" for the factory rail sensor... you just tap the wires themselves.

My only hard and fast rule is that the gauges need to match. I'm leaning towards the Isspro because I could add fuel supply pump pressure and engine oil pressure in a pod over the rearview mirror later down the road and once again everything would match.

BD, I thought about your post yesterday as I made a 40 mile trip. I considered a pillar mount, but am happy I went with the dash mount 3 pod like Shadrach's. A few years back, I nearly got in a wreck because of a wide pillar's blind spot, and I have been wary of anything that I felt might hinder my periphal vision ever since. A pillar mount might not worry 2 out of a hundred people, but if you are one of them, -------------------. Mark

Shadrach: Did you run the gauge wires down through the defrost vents or how did you do it? Thinking of using the same dash mount you have on my 04. Would like to know what oil, volt, @ temp readings really are.

I use the pillar mount one guage pod that encompases the grab handle as used in the SRT 10, that Genos carries.



I use the dual sweep single guange that show EGT/boost that is same back colour as stock and the guage also looks stock and works well.



I too was concerned about the big blind spot created by too much pillar and is the reason I went with the single.



If I had it to do over again, I think I would get the electronic monitor available now through EDGE.

Currently installing a Dakota Digital boost, EGT and temp gauge in the SRT pillar. Had the SPA EGT and boost but wanted a temp gauge also.

No I drilled a hole in the dash cover and in the dash itself. If you ever have to take the cover off it will be fun.

The Isspros match the stock gauges nicely. I also went with the SRT pillar mount with the grab handle - it's a Dodge part and matches and fits perfectly. I went with the dash top mount as suggested in the TDR Buyers Guide. I told the guys at Genos what gauges I needed and they picked out the fittings, tubing, etc, not to mention installation instructions. I don't know where you'll find better service and more knowledgable people. If you have installation questions, call Genos.

I have run the 3 post on my 03 from day 1 never had any trouble seeing. But if I could do it over I would go with the dash 3 hole. It is easer to watch when driving.

I prefer the dash over the post as I sometimes have to be careful about my blind spot. I also have the smoked window vent shades and if they are dirty it makes it even worse. You just have to be extra careful when turning left. Shad

My DiPricol gage on the post is dying. Any body like the 3 gage holder for the cubby hole?
I'm thinking the Ispro meters in that would almost look like the trk came that way.

I would go with Autometer. They match just as good as Isspro. 3 out of my 4 Isspro's have been back to California for warranty work. Isspro people are very knowledgeable about problems and they have a very quick turn around, but it's still a hassle.

BC, I've never even seen one of those pods installed, so weigh this with a grain of salt. Do you want to have to move your eyes that far every time you want to look at a guage? I would think that checking guages there would not be anything like a quick glance in the mirror, but maybe take eyes off the road for too long? Does anyone ride in the back seat, especially the left side, at night? Would those guage lights be "uncomfortable" for them? Just think of every scenario before you buy. To me, spending time and money for something that I'm not happy with is a real bummer! Whatever choice you make, I hope it is "jess right"! Mark

I must say that I have used a Commander on my last 3 Ram's. Not as cool looking as the old style setup but easy install and never a problem.

I will be doing a Quad-pod over the mirror with Westach dual gauges in them. They will match the Westach EGT/Boost on the a-pillar pod thst I already have. Overhead, I will put an ammeter/voltmeter, oil pressure/oil temp, transmission temp/rear diff temp and syet another dual gauge that I haven't thought of yet.



While I see no problem with checking gauges over the rear view mirror, as I often check my rear view, I DO agree that it would be best to put gauges there that do not need to be checked often. EGT/Boost belong somewhere closer to forward sight. For your 2003 and the fuel pressure sensitive VP44, I owuld also install a lift pump pressure gauge.
