Sounds good! :D We can always use another face at the gatherings. :D

24v with a 12v'er p pump. Now thats a weapon...

Just a not so street friendly weapon when running +800 HP.

I sure do like the ability to go from a little over 400 hp to 600 hp with a flip of a switch.

I second that !

If/when my Vp44 dies Ive already been pricing a conversion .

DM

Not necessarily...
According to the horses mouth (i. e. PDR), a conversion is neither cost effective, or productive. I was planning on a conversion, and Mark told me that I flat out would not be happy with it, and would be better off swapping to a 12v altogether. From their experience, apparently they are virtually impossible to tune, make less power than a comparable vp44 setup, higher egts, not very streetable when done. Reliable, yes, but I was encouraged to look at swapping to a full 12v, if I wanted a p-pump for reliability. I know what you're thinking... I didn't want to believe it either, but when PDR reccomends against something, they probably know what they're talking about. Mark even cited some examples of the conversions in the past.
The next best bet is a PDR (or other) cam, which now have lift pump lobes. A 12v lift pump and regulator can be added for cheap, and then you have a reliable, worry-free, cam-driven fuel supply for the VP44.

There all good in their own way

I could afford any new model but i prefer the old truck looks and simplicity of the 1st gen, granted i don't have to haul a family in it either. The second gen guys on the average seem to love the power most of all and most turn their own wrenches. The 3rd gen folks on the average love those 4 doors and h. o. motors with plug and play power, no need to turn so many wrenches and the full power potential has yet to be reached. They can all be modified to run 500 horses, some with more work than others. The ve is super dependable and doesn't seem to have issues with mods, very cost to power ratio friendly, but in later years i may try to build up a p-pump 12v for the old girl as parts and things get harder to find, who knows 30 years from now when all the high school kids are flying jet cars i just might put a hpcr 24v in it. Good times :)

I started with a '01 24 valve. I love the HPCR I have now. I also think the '93 is the coolest truck I have. It sounds awesome. I guess for me, it's a toss up.

Most of the best pulling trucks around here are 24v with a p7100 on them

DM

Maybe, but that would go with the common notion that the conversion is not a good idea below 800hp. The "best pulling trucks" are well above 800hp... So in that case, I could see the arguement, but either way, it's still not a very cost effective, or streetable setup.

This question kind of depends on if you intend to bomb it or not. It would be pretty hard to beat (no pun intended) a stock 610/325.

Im pretty sure csevers is not over 800Hp and hes running a p-pump and cleaning house around here...

But what ever it dont matter to me ,,,, I like the p pumps better than the Vp44 thats for sure

Hi just a question, how come none of you like the 24-valvers? I got a 1999 2500 with a 24 valve, and yes the front end sucks but that is a good motor, and I dont see why no one likes these motors.

Had both 12V and a 24V. Love the 12V for simplicity :p , hate the 24V for computer control :( . Love the 24V NV5600 :p hate the 12V NV4500 :( . Its a love hate relationship :-laf . But I don't have enough money to marry both ;)

i might be wrong but the p7100 pump on the 12v is the power king and there are no electronics so its very simple to tweak so the simplicity and the power possible out of the p pump is what makes it a favorite also the vp44 pump has been less then steller which doesn't help much just my . 02
