both types of tires offered from the factory (bfg rugged trail, and the michelin LTX) seem to have great wearing characteristics.

I've not go good mileage with any 17" tire... I own 3 trucks..... 04, 04. 5, and 05 all 3500's with a total of over 300K miles... . I'm now waiting on sample steel wheels from a vendor to change to 19. 5" like our F550... . we are seeing on it... 100K miles on recaps on the drivers... and 90 K miles on new Michlelin steer tires... . As soon as I get the samples I'll let you know... ...

michelin is my choice 82k on my 06 averaged 70 to75k on my 96 people complain about snow and ice but i have mine siped work great for what i do

I get the same handling and mileage, 35k, from Michelin, BFG, and Coopers on these curvy mountain roads. However the Coopers are the only 10 ply tires that are warrenteed so I get a new set for 30% off. I go through nearly two sets (65k) per year so they are clearly the "best" (ie most economical). I run them with 70# front and rear and they wear perfectly. Jeff

My rugged trails have 50000 miles on them, and have only used about 1/4 of the tread. If they keep wearing at the rate they're going, I'll easily get over 100000 out of them. I run them at 80psi all the time.
