So. What is the best and most powerfull fueling box? I know a guy that had a TST level 9 stacked with an EZ Edge, and I talked him into upgrading to a Drag Comp from Edge. He is telling me his truck is slower now, but pours alot more smoke. 2001, ETH, DD3, stock turbo, 5" exhaust, 4. 10 gears. I'm not looking to good here getting him to upgrade to a slower box, and the fact that he still sees my GMCs tail lights doesn't help. So, what do you think? More smoke more fuel right?

Thanks for any help

Pete

He should have signed the waiver and got the TST competition version. Level six is comparable to level 9 on the standard pm3. He could send in his old box and pay about 100bucks and get it reprogrammed unless it is already sold.

Pete,

With either box combination I think your friend is getting plenty of fuel.

As I have stated before, there is only so much the VP44 fuel pump can be manipulated. I think TST, Edge and Blue Chip all do about the same when it comes to absolute fueling with their competition programs.

Another thing to consider is that the ETH fuel pump, pumps 40cc's less fuel then the ETC pump at full fueling (something I read).

And the ETH reacts less to electronic enhancements vs the ETC pump/engine (compression also comes in to play).

Remember he is 6 speed! not auto like you!

I have the drag comp and I would put money on it that you would be seeing my tail lights if we had a little race (Cummins Pride speaking here)!

Back to the subject at hand,

If he wants to be faster I would suggest him practicing his shifting techniques.

Also upgrading to a Piers HX40w/16cm2 housing.

If he really is set on speed, sell the 6 speed and get an Auto!

He's still seeing your taillights because he's having to row that 6 speed... that's not fair ;) On the box, I agree 78, the PM3 comp along with the EZ will make the VP give all it can give. That box will fuel to the point that it makes the fuel pump shudder at defuling. . they're pretty darn hot boxes. Like the drag comp, they also fuel to 3100 rpms.

I run the setup listed below and can't see any of the other setups making any more power. They likely do the same thing. As soon as I get a different intake I am back to the dyno in search of 500HP... . CJ

Tail lights

I would love to see some diesel tail lights, as long as it's not a F@#d, not a lot of fast diesels around here. I love diesel drag racing, and I know all about the auto vs stick thing, I had a 2001 ETC 5 speed. I'm planning on going to the clash of the titans in San Antonio to see some real fast diesels run.

I just felt bad that I recommended a box that he feels is slower. Shoot, as for seeing my tail lights, I was expecting maybe a high 14 with my truck, freaked me out that I could run low 14's with just a box and exhaust. It's no Cummins, but it still burns diesel. :D

Goodness Cobrajet... how's the smoke with all that fuel and just the 40? You need a twin for that sucker ;). I don't imagine that 500 would be a problem at all... you've got almost double the injector I do and a hotter box to boot. My guess would be mid 500s, and even higher with more air. :D

He also has an ETH, where as you have an ETC. So "hoping" for 500 is a very realistic way of looking at it.

The truck will smoke like crazy. I put 2700 miles on it this week and averaged about . 5 mpg less than before. It is not too bad at highway speeds, but it does puff a little on the inclines. The 8's belong to Kurt Voss down the street. We are both waiting for Pier's new injectors. The 8's are a little much, but it sure pulls like a freight train. I played with one of those Subaru. . whatevers on the Oklahoma Turnpike. He wasn't even in the race from 60-110. He was laughing his butt off. Had a lot of fun with a couple of Dmax's and PSD's. It is amazing how many diesels you see in a 2700 mile week in Tx. and Ok. I raced just about anything that looked like willing competition. The Cummins "smoked" them all. I have managed a 13. 88 on the G-Tech totally abusing the clutch and transmission. 0-60 is around 6. 6. 5th and 6th are scary coming out of a diesel truck.

Twins are cool. Kurt just had them installed on his truck by Nowell. He has been around here for a while. He dragged the go fast truck to San Antonio for this weekends fun. I may install the twins after the PSD arrives..... CJ
