guys ,along with my 2500 sport i also have a ram3500 flat deck 6 spd 4x4 and thie thing is really lacking in power . even empty i have to drop 6th gear in a lot off hills. the engine is stock and i have been thinkin about buying a set of injectors for it ,i don`t want a muscle truck i just want to be able to put it on cruise on the highway and not have to drop gears on the highway

is there a injector you would recomend? and are the injector tips just as good in my case? thanks

I strongly recommend Bosch Cummins 275hp motorhome injectors. Joe Donnelly installed a set of them in my '01 HO/6speed when it was new. I ran it hard for 325k miles, many of them towing miles. The truck is still in service in my family with 350k showing and has never suffered a failure.

You will need a set of gauges though. Any injector mods will increse egt.

I would have to second what Harvey said. I got mine from Joe as well and on the '01 HO (if I remember correctly), you get a nice 42-hp increase. I wasn't looking for a hot rod but a nice little upgrade for my camping rig. I also added the DD TTPM which is a milder version of the EZ. Great combo.

thanks guys,so these are cummins products? they must be very expensive huh? other than the guage will i need to do anything else to accomodate the extra power? i`m gonn a put a 4'exhast cause mine is gone anyway. did you guys see any fuel savings?

I have the rv275's and I did notice a fuel savings. 11. 5 before loaded, 13 after. But it may have been just the NEW injectors that gave me the savings, not necessarily the bigger. mine were bad.

thanks . i see you put the 2. 5 inch levelling kit also, eversince i did it my tires are wearing out on the outside, did you experience and alignment issues?

Reach in and lift the throttle pedal. If is raises alot (lot an inch or more) you are most likely not getting full throttle. Look at the upper end of the lever. There is a white nylon piece that the cable goes through. Put a split lead sinker on the cable to take out the slack.

SNOKING

After the level kit went in, I drove straight to the shop for an alignment. since then I had it aligned once more, after I noticed the front passenger tire starting to wear (cupping on the inside treads). I drove it for about 10000 more miles and it continued to get worse. Eventually, the bearing assembly wiped out, when I did the bearing I found some play in the Ball Joints. now the drivers side is starting to cup. That bearing is going to get done next. Then I have to get in there and do the ball joints.

otherwise I have about 45000 miles on the procomps, love em. when I get the front end rebuilt I am going to get new tires, these are 5 years old, tread is probably another 5000 miles left, but they started checking on the insides side walls. I don't drive the truck often enough. And it sits on a gravel drive.

I am looking at the goodyear dura tracs next for the E rating . highest load rating I can find in the size i am looking for

No, they were not at all expensive. I bought a new or perhaps new reman set, don't remember which, from Joe Donnelly in Summer 2001 for $200 or $300, don't remember price now either.

Before you add injectors make sure the truck is running normal. Too many stock type issues are overlooked in the quest for bolt on power. 460lbft of torque should not feel gutless.

460lbft of torque should not feel gutless

Bob4x4 brings up a very good point. My HO never felt gutless. The 275's just woke it up a little and the TTPM let me take the boost up to 20-lbs.

I agree RV275's are the way to go. I had installed the Adrenaline with pulse at same time so hard to tell what caused the most improvement. Everything I read though says RV275's are the best for mild increase to a stock truck.

thanks guys, my 3500 is a dumping flatdeck made of steel and its a lot heavier than a normal dullie and it has a 4 foot headboard holing up wind, but still it would be nice not to have to drop gears in the hills. it has the 355 ratio dana 80 it would be beter with a 410 for sure. the fuel pressure after the filter is only about 6 lbs idleing,i`m gonna fix that and then i think i`ll get the 275 injectors and a 4inch exhast.

A friend of mine has a sghool bus that has a 5. 9 cummins in it . would that be the 275 injectors? thanks

A school bus probably has a lower hp rating. Some smaller motorhomes using the ISB5. 9 were rated 275 hp. You can tell by the Cummins ID plate on the driver's side front of the engine. HP rating is always specified.

how often does the stock injectors get faulty? what are the symptoms of worn out or faulty injectors? When you guys refere to the 3500HO do you just mean the fact that the manual trans model had 10 more hp than the autos? cause here in canada i have never seen a cummins ram with a HO distinction.

Greg,

Check your VIN. If the 8th digit on a 1994-2002 Dodge Ram is a 7, it is a 5. 9 Liter I6 24 Valve HO Diesel (245hp/505ft-lbs).
