has anyone installed/bought DPS twin turbos?

Engine Oil Bypass Filter

Really liking these RV275 Injectors!

-EGT's are down across the board. (More than I expected)
-Engine oil is staying cleaner, still looks clear (am using bypass filter, but oil was much dirtier quicker w/ the old big honed injectors)
-Smoothness is about the same.
-MPG's may be slightly higher (guessing 1mpg improvement at this point), but need more time to tell.
-Engine / injector pump noise is about the same.
-Max boost (without added fueling box, smarty on 3, stock HX-35) is 26 psi. (was about 32 w/ DD3's).

Overall the truck runs cleaner and still has more than enough power for towing without over stressing the drive train.

I love my RV 275s. I've had them since the truck had 20,000 miles, and wouldn't trade them for the world. Truck is alot smoother, and I believe they gave it clean strong power. I'm with you Shortshift, sometimes too much power can complicate things, especially in the Rocky Mountains.

Big A

I'm seeing low 20s in combination city/hwy driving. Haven't really had it on the hwy solo. I'm betting that if I keep my speed under 70 it would be in the 22 to 23 mpg range. I did just replace the Vp44, so I'll let you know some better figures.

Big A

Big A, Thats what i was wanting to hear since we have similar setups. . Oo.

Am thinking these mud tires are probably costing me a mile per gallon. Will go to BFG A/Ts on the next set just before winter comes.

Mine may be at around 19mpg now but still need more miles to confirm it.

Thanks again & good luck w/ the new VP44.

shortshift,

I would like to get away from the EDM 2's and go smaller, for mileage and clean up my smoke, im not into HotRodding or breaking stuff on my truck, do you have any leans on what injector i should prolly go with, and I dont tow anything except a 110 gal transfer tank.

Thanks in advance...

cArNiVaLwOrKeR, Thats one of those questions where you will receive alot of different opinions on.

I am very happy with these RV275s as they run snappy off the bottom and you dont have to be concerned about smoking out the cars behind you unless you really roll into it. They are also probably as good as any other injector out there as far as fuel efficiency goes. EGT's so far have been the biggest surprise for me, as they are pretty cool running injectors. The price is also about half of most other sets.

The other thing I would probably recommend is a set of F1 Mach 1. 6's. They have a very high user satisfaction rate and from most reports they are pretty clean burning and dont waste much fuel. Good for EGTs as well, but you dont tow so that may not be an issue for you. They may well be the best overall choice for a multi-purpose injector out there.

For me, I might go with the Mach 1. 2's some day, and you might want to consider those as well. They are obviously a little milder than the 1. 6's, but your truck will run plenty snappy and happy with them.

I definitely agree that the EDM's are the way to go if you dont get the RV275's.

These are only my opinions from the homework Ive done and hopefully others will chime in and help more. Good Luck!

I'm running the F1 mach 1. 2's with an Edge EZ and I'm really happy with them. I went with the 1. 2's because I'm still running the HY35 turbo and I tow a lot. So far the 1. 2's run very cool and clean with a noticeable seat of the pants power gain over stock. The fuel mileage is better but I installed a Dyna-Trac locking hub kit at the same time I did the injectors so I'm not sure what made the most contribution to my mpg increase. My truck is a late '02 that is non-cad, so my front end was turning all the time. My mpg was always around 14 mpg with mixed driving now I'm constantly getting 16 mpg with mixed driving.

Regards, Mike.

Shortshift, Im new to TDR. You Guys know alot about these injectors. I just installed the edge ez on my 01. I want to add injectors also. I have the guages and air flow I need. These RV 275s sound like what I have been looking for. I use the truck mainly for towing, up to 15000. The ez has done well for the short time its been connected. Just looking for a bit more. What do you and the others think of this? All help is welcomed. Thanks, Bunyan

Hello Bunyan,

Well, you are going to receive alot of opinions on this subject. Since you asked me and you say you tow heavy I would say you have 2 "proven" options. Either a set of Bosch RV275's (would be my 1st choice) or a set of Formula 1, mach 1. 6's or lower.

Either way I would definitely keep the EZ box as they are proven to work well for people that want "practical, usable power". It will bring your timing up and give you a little extra fueling at usable RPMs.

Combining it with either of the choices of injectors above will give you a nice towing combo. The Mach 1. 6's may be a little heavy if you dont have drivetrain mods so really, maybe mach 1. 2's but for almost that power level you can get the RV275's for about half the price and you wont hear much bad about these inj's at all. .

Ive run stock, 50 & 100Hp injectors, and by far I like these 275's even more every day I drive it. They are just clean and smooth at low throttle settings like taking off easy from a light and combined with the EZ, they will spin up your turbo enough to make some snappy power and also do some pretty decent towing. .

Another thing is you can get a good baseline of what fuel mileage your rig is capable of because MPG's are one of their strong points.

Now the F1's are all custom made and you may get a slightly smoother idle and little better performance out of them so either way, youll have a good running truck and best of all is still reliable.

It wont be like one of these rice-racer converts that has so much fuel and not enough turbo to burn it and they end up destroying their trucks before they've even towed anything yet. . :-laf

Thanks Shortshift, suonds like the RV275s are what I'm looking for. Would you have a part number. About how much would a guy have to pay? Thanks Bunyan

You could give Bob Wagner a PM or call and get his advice also. He took good care of me on my inj's. Per forum rules Ill avoid stating actual prices. .

I think only vendors are restricted from "advertising" their prices. Members are free to state what they paid for something, although I tend to avoid that because it can be tacky.

While I wouldn't hestitate to recommend Bob Wagner, RV 275 injectors are pretty easy to find. The bigger question is, do you need to have them installed or will you do it yourself? That could well be the deciding factor of whether you buy from a local shop or not.

Neil

Guys, I understand about stating actual prices. I thought for the sake of it you could give a ballpark. If its against policies thats fine. Maybe a PM, if you like. I will do the install myself. Thanks for everyones help. Have a good weekend. Bunyan

I bought mine used for $275, enjoyed them for 2 years, sold them for $200. Heck of deal! Installing injectors is not my favorite job. Spend some money on the right tools. It's easier the second time ;)

Well, here we go again. .

Following up... .

The 275's worked out very well. Ran smooth, low egts, low smoke, decent power when combined with a timing box like a Van Aaken, EZ, Smarty etc. But it never got the mileage increase I was looking for. Havent been able to get past 18 no matter what combo, or how its driven. Granted, its running better than it ever has IMO. Just not going to win too many races with them, but that is not a factor anyways.

Also got rid of the mud tires and went with less aggressive treads to get some mileage. . Still, maybe 18. 5 tops!

After doing some research and speaking with some of our well known Gurus around here, I bit the bullet and ordered some new Mach 1. 0's. . Right! not the best value for the buck in this case since we're lookin at maybe 30 HP difference for how much difference in price?

Still, not wanting more power or touchy throttle or smoke & all that stuff... Just want a few more MPG's. Have been told the mach 1's should net about . 5 to 1 mpg over the 275's (red flag here!). Will have to see it to believe it, but either way they say the Machs are smoother & cleaner burning so it should run a little better (I would think). FYI - im used to the old-style honed injectors, so this EDM thing is new for me.

So, any opinions from you Mach 1. 0 owners? Mileage? Smoke? Smoothness? as compared to 275's. . Just for grins & giggles while Im waiting for the guy in the brown shirt to drop em off. .

Did I waste the dough or are they worth it in the long run?

(having my doubts, those 275's are nice sticks).

I think the biggest milage gains come from driving style and timing adding boxes.

That said, I picked up 1. 5mpg going from DD2's to M3's. I did not gain any milage from stock/ EZ to DD2/ EZ. The only change above was the sticks.

I hope it works out for you!

Dave

Thanks for the input Dave. Sounds encouraging. .

Thats what everyone is saying, the F1 EDM injectors are clean and mileage efficient for the power increase they give.

I figure the 1. 0s being the most conservative of the set may be the ones to hang on to until Don M gets the bug to make a "Fuel Mileage Optimized" model. "Hint Hint"

But again, from alot of the reports from over the last few years, most of them seem to be optimized pretty well already. .
