Has anyone ever seen any type of intercooler comparison information. My performance shop likes Spearco. Banks has some good pricing on complete kits but my shop isn't big on Banks.

I'd like to hear from anyone who's making power similar to my numbers who has installed an intercooler. I'd like to know what kind of EGT drop they had, dyno improvements, or increase in boost from the gained flow.

I did alot of research before I purchased the Spearco. I've only had it for about 4mos. but I noticed right away that boost comes in much faster... you will see the restrictions in the stock intercooler. Did not notice any significant decrease in egt not towing , but towing heavy is the biggest most noticeable change. Your truck is set-up very similar to mine and I would hit 1200* on steep grades before the upgrade and now I cannot force the egt above 1000*as long as boost stays above 20*. My boost only went to 32* before and now I hit 38*... it is rare that I ever need this extra boost but I was testing it with a heavy trailer to see what it would do. At the time of my purchase,BD Power was advertising they had one for a 2nd Gen. but were having trouble with some of the intitial makes. Banks did not manufacture one and ATS was a few mos. away until theirs would be released. Cool-It seemed to be good but Spearco had all the replacement parts and boots with attractive stainless replacement piping included with the kit. Mine retailed for $1300 but it included everything to do the job. I'm by no means a mech. ,but had no problems doing hte install myself. Had more problems getting the WW tank out than actually putting the intercooler in. I did notice however, that some of the holes did not line up for the A/C condensor and transmission cooler. Again though, with my pea-brain, I was able to re-drill the hole and mount properly. Very sturdy piece... . extremely satisfied with results. Good for 100*boost if ever needed to upgrade turbo! I have not had my truck dyno'd but my sig seems to be similar in upgrades to yours. Hope this helps

I have a Griffin on the way to match my new Griffin radiator, I will post the results as soon as it is in. I think the list price is just over 800. 00.

I am going to test the radiator only first on the way to May Madness to get a base line before adding the intercooler.

Check into dura-lite. In my opinion they are the best out there 7year/million mile warranty. You can't beat the price at about $900. They will hold 100psi and flow better. The fleets I work with love them. Just my opinion.

Your saying the kit came with everything to get from the turbo to the intake? The pictures I see online and information don't show anything but the intercooler but I'm sure they must all be complete kits. I'll have to verify it's a complete kit to be safe.

Thanks,
David

It came with everything needed to complete installation.

Here is a few pictures of the Griffin intercooler I got today. I need to test the Griffin Radiator first on my way to Vegas in a few weeks then I will install the inercooler and see how that works.

Blair...

Please keep us posted on this.

Any link to more info, pricing, etc. ?

I will be especially interested if it installs without modification.

thanks

I think the new plan is to install it at May Madness, I should get some good testing with the radiator on the way there so I might as well test the intercooler on the way home.

I think it is because I am one of only a few crazy guys left that works on his truck everyday, and if it isn't mine it is someone else's. Come on by tonight I will be working on Bio Jim's headlights.

Sounds like a plan Blair. I'll bring the pry bar, sledge hammer and the Jaws of Life to remove the lower boots.
