Sale or not, why put a bandaid on something that needs stitches. Look into a FASS or Airdog. Fass has that new pump only that is not as expensive too.
 
The sad thing is its still under warranty im sure the pump will spit the 45 oz or whatever the number is but im down to 7 psi at 70. I need to look at this new fass pump.
 
There are other modifications to your fuel system to make a stock lift pump last. Scotty's fuel systems have made stock lift pumps last over 80,000 miles and trucks that build 500rwhp with stock lift pump

I recently had a similar problem. I fixed it by putting in a fresh fuel filter. The filter only had about 7k on it, but I recall seeing the fp start dropping after a fillup in Needles, for $2. 69/gal. Musta been really good stuff. :--)
 
Finally put gauge on today, Eeek! 8-9 psi at idle... moderately accelerating around 5 psi when I took my foot out of it, no need to find out what WOT was. Looks like a new pump and the kit from enterprise eng perf for me.

J, you will just need the washers at least six, I alway get a few extra case you damage or lose one. You will replace both the ones on the the inlet and outlet of the pump. To bleed the air out of the system I loosen the banjo at the vp44 just a turn or two and bump the starter until the LP kicks on and wait for a good stream of fuel to come out of the banjo before you tighten it, you will hear the LP change sound and see the bubbles will go away. You might have to loosen and bleed twice. Once the air is bled, start it and check for leaks.

Whos Scotty? And what are these modifications?
 
As opposed to replacing your lift pump and counting the days to the next failure, you could replace the lines and fittings with parts that provide improved fuel flow. You could also, mount your replacement pump on the frame rail back by the tank, then the pump will work more as it was designed to. DCX sourced the lift pumps from Cummins, speculation is that DCX wanted them mounted to the motor to make it easier on themselves. Additionally, you could leave a 15psi (factory) pump in it's original location and add a 7psi pump to the frame. The lines, fittings, and relocated/additional pump setup has provided a considerable improvement over the factory setup to many people here on the TDR. Depending on how much of your own effort you want to provide, this setup should cost you between 1/6th and 1/2 of what a high end system will run.



So in a nutshell:

A) You can spend between $100 (+ replacing your failed pump) and $500 for DIY to kit solutions



B) Purchase a high quality electric pump system (with plumbing?) in the $600 range



C) Spend upwards of $1000 for a mechanical system (with plumbing).



Scotty, as with numerous others, sell the plumbing/pump kits (A), there are also numerous vendors selling the high end electric systems such as FASS (Fuel Air Seperator) or AirDog (similar to FASS or vice versa depending on who you ask) (B), and a couple of vendors such as DTT or PBP dealing the mechanical RASP system (C).

. . received my kit in the mail last weekend - waiting on a <cough> <cough> sick day from work to do the install. First impressions: VERY nice kit, even nicer instructions. . Scotty is also a class act - very helpful on the phone or via email. . Wouldn't hesitate buying the kit from him, if you are considering it. . Will post results once I get it installed. . Damn honey-do list always seems to trump my own personal agenda..... :-{}
