I purchased a transmission temperature guage and need to know the best or suitable location to attach it to the transmission. Dodge says the only way to make the connection is to remove the pan and install a fitting for the sensor. The dealer I bought the guage from says that's not necessary and says that my '02 2500 RAM has an existing port for the connection. My question is, if that's true, is it in a location that would give me the proper emersion of the sensor in the fluid?

Any knowledgeable guidence on this will be very much appreciated.

temp sensor

Go back to the dealer & buy a transmission line with the port for the sensor built onto the line. It's about $100 but you will see the transmissions PEAK temperatures coming from the converter to the heat exchanger. You can also buy the line from DTT. www.dieseltrans.com

Thanks Clay. I thought there was a way to tie into the converter/heat exchanger line but I wasn't sure they made a part specifically to tap into the line. Thanks again.

I put a couple of temp sensors in and I just cut the line. If you have a small pipe cutter... the ones without the handle made for 3/8" line..... clip off a bit and put in a brass "T" from the hardware store. Make sure it's the one made for ferrals. Slide on the couplings on both sides, then the ferrals, put the brass "T" in and with a little teflon tape... you are ready to tighten it down. Thread in the sender and you spent less than $20 on it. Take your sender with you to the hardware store so you will be sure it will thread in. Works great. Either way you go, you will get the same result... a big piece of mind when towing.

Good Luck,

Steve.

I had the Jannetty sender pod and when Bill did my transmission he replaced it with a 95 line with the port in it. Said he could not warranty the transmission with compression fittings in the line. Either buy my old line or call Bill. Well call Bill, he will provide the short section of additional line to mate up to your cooler. SNOKING

P. S. I am close by in La Conner.
