I'm looking for a power module for everyday use to help with milage mainly and power to pass when passing gear runs out of breath. I'm kinda scared to get a power module that has alot of rail pressure after reading about the failures and risks that others have expierenced. I don't pull a heavy load all the time, but do drive lots of HWY miles. Just need that little extra bit of power to help break the ice of a spongy pedal that takes it time to get up to speed.

Ive looked at the Edge EZ, Quadzilla XZT tow, and the predator 50 HP module. Out of which one of these power upgrades have you guys ex

experienced the best results in long term use without sacraficing reliability.

Thank You for any replys :)

I am considering the exact same thing. I am pretty temted by the simple plug and play Edge EZ. 65hp and 150 lb/ft will be plenty in a truck that already has a ton of power. I'm not sure how they are making the power though. Like you I don't want a straight pressure box, even though at the low levels I think they all operate under safe pressure. I also want to leave the stock turbo, transmission, exhaust and airbox and I think these lower level power adders can be used safely that way. I will however be running a pyro gauge to keep an eye on it.

Does anybody know which ones are pressure and duration?

The Edge EZ is a pressure box..... have had one on my truck for @40,000 mile with no problems as of yet. Normally run it on setting 3 .

I have the Diablo Power Puck on my 2001\2500 & it does very good. Pulling my fifth wheel i get 13-14 mpg. Empty im doing 21mpg.

Buy one of the used Edge EZs that are for sale here. Put it on Level 3 and enjoy a tremendous increase in responsiveness with reasonable (for the stock turbo) power gains.

Cheap, plug and play - and I do mean PLAY.

You won't see any mileage improvements with any box if you can't keep your foot out of it!

Very pleased with EDGE with attitude got an increase of 1-2. 5 mpg depending how deep and often the right peddle goes down. Oo.

I know that your not considering the TST, but I'll put a vote in for that. I run mine on 2/2 for everyday driving. Changes timing for better economy, and 2/2 is the mildest fuel increase which gives me decent power and yet is safe for anyone to drive (meaning their not going to destroy your pickup!). I choose TST because it doesn't raise rail pressure, rather its just a duration/timing box.

I forgot to mention the TST power max. It and the Van akken 3. 2 duration and timing box I think it is. It seems that the reason the other boxes are so much cheaper is that they don't take the time in programming there boxes for more accurate callibrating through timing and duration, but just turn the pressure up. Sounds kinda cheap. I don't like to gamble weather, " Well maybe this will work" or " Lets see what this box is like" and then Bamm! opps :{

The van aaken 3. 2. Good clean horsepower, Built with quality, No fuel psi. I think its the best "working mans" box on the market. We have tried them all. People like em.

Wouldn't the Triple Dog be a good mild increase?

It has lower torque ratings than most I've seen.

For the '03/04's they list

Tow 66hp/95tq

Performance 94hp/106tq

Extreme 113hp/135tq

Plus, the two lower settings are timing/duration only with no pressure. No harnesses to connect, no wiring to go bad.

Seems like a good option to me, especially since the new downloader stores your stock info, plus works with the skim key.

I run the Edge EZ on level 3. It's a good box. I've also run the TST alone -- another good box. From what I've seen, they both get quite a bit warmer than stock when you turn them up -- but together stacked, they stay cool. -- And I normally do not tow.

I have ran most of the above boxes and downloader. My best highway mileage was my last highway trip. TST on 3/3 & cruise on 75mph = 19. 1mpg. I know that is not any record for 3 gens, but it is for my 04. 5 600.
