hello all... ...

i have the JRE 4 inch exhaust and took the walker muffler off. that was a few thousand miles ago. what is the best muffler to re-install on my 4inch? without the muffler the noise kill's me!!it was cool in the begining, but enough is enough. the drone is real bad betwween 2000 and 2300rpm's. i would like to keep some of the noise, lose the drone, and retain breathability:)

... ... ... thanks... ... ... ... ..... james

From what I've heard, You took it off :( I've heard the Walkers are the best because they are 4" and full flowing type muffler.

This is based on previous posts I've read. I'm planning on getting one as soon as I save my pennies :)

We all missed you last weekend. They were going to pay you back for that beer you got last month ;)

put the Walker back on....

I love my JRE with the Walker. Ted designed this system for no drone, and you won't have any. I love the sound... . it has authority but won't set off car alarms like your're probably doing now.

A college kid with a CTD followed me for several miles to ask me which system I had. That's got to say something.

well speaking as a college kid....

The best muffler is no muffler at all. I can be loud if I want to, but it is never THAT loud in the cab, even my grilfriend thinks so.

I have heard many different types, but stright 3" is the best bar none.

One has lots of choices to keep or loose noise with mufflers. Here is Magnaflows site. http://www.magnaflow.com/03universal.htm

They have round and oval 4" in several lengths.

The Drone thing is a hole different animal.

Muffling sound is does not neccessarily mean muffling Drone.

If you had a Drone free system with the muffler, I would talk to JRE to get his advice what to try to increase noise w/o drone. Their is certianly no gain in performace with or w/o one of these straight trought 4" mufflers.

guy's

sorry i couldn't make it last week:( it's a bad time of the year for me. i have from november till april to goof off. :D . i guess i'll have to call Ted and see if i can get another muffler. mine got smashed up bad when i took it off! i'm planning on having a pig roast for all tdr members in april. although i wont be able to do any cool stuff like change turbos, fix starters,etc... . i didn't have much drone with the walker so i guess its my best bet. i should have left it alone:( like the say"if it aint broke, fix it till it is... "

hope to see ya'll soon... . james

The Walker with Ted's system is nice. If you'd like a muffler of equal performance, but a little louder than Ted's, and not as much money, the Dynomax Welded Race Magnum 17225 (I think that is the right number) is what I have on my truck and I am very happy with it. It was ~$50 from Summit.

Just a thought.

best muffler

I did the same thing you did, took it all off and went straight pipes. Well that lasted about one month and I that got real old quick . I went too midas and they sold me a straight thru performance muffler called the raven, and it sounds great. More of a throatier sound without the drone and the car alarms going off. LOL. :D

I went without a muffler for a while, even with the dual stacks, the drone at 2000 RPM was too much, especially pulling a trailer, it would hit at just about 65 and was just too much.

Of course, I think my muffler is the best. I looked at walkers, etc. , but the price was just too much. I got a 2 ft. piece of 12 GA 8 in steel pipe, rolled a piece of perforated steel (the stuff with a million little holes in it) into a 4 inch pipe, cut a couple of end caps, stuffed the space between the 4 in and 8 inch pipes with steel wool and welded it all up.

Full flow, sounds great and only cost $15!

Of course, it's not for everyone... :D

james , you can have my race magnum ... its going to be coming off soon , i'm going to put on an allied , just need to find a local source , bullydog uses the allied in their system and i like the sound , finally drove one this past weekend .

Mopar-muscle,

Why didn't you like your Race Magnum?

How does the sound of the BullyDog/Allied compare to the Race Magnum?.

Thanks,

Ryan

i like my walker. i get constant compliments on how it sounds, and my sound-picky wife made one comment when it was new about how it was a bit louder than stock, but she likes it too. i can hear my cummins breathing and going "ahhhh".
