Besides putting a hole in the oil pan where would be the best place for installing a sending unit for my oil temp gauge? #ad

I put mine right above the oil filter. There is a 1. 4" screw that comes about and I just screwed in my sensor there. It works fine, but since I don't haul anything, I hardly ever see my gauge move. The lowest setting is 140 F.

Mark is right, the top of the filter housing is the best place. Be careful where you route the wires, the exhaust manifold and turbo area can get wire melting hot. Also make sure the wiring won't be in the way for changing the oil filter. I removed my oil temp gauge and reinstalled it on the intake manifold, the oil temp was a boring gauge, got to 180° and pretty much stayed there. Intake air temp is much more interesting, but your gauge will need to read down to about 50°,mine reads 0°-350°. My gauge is switched between two senders, the other is for AT temp.

I'm placing my SPA oil temp. sender in the extra port of my Amsoil Dual remote bypass filter mounting block (where I had the oil sampling petcock located). This will keep it clear of any hot parts.
