hey everyone, does anyone know where i could get a 16 cm turbo housing for a good price. The cheapest i've found one is $117. 00 dollars. It's gonna be christmas really soon and i think i need to give myself a present:p Does anyone know how this will help the performance of my pickup. i have the 21. 5 cm turbo housing right now and it doesn't seem to lack any power that much.

That price sounds pretty good. If you're changing out that big 21. 5cm housing you're gonna have much better kick-in-the-pants performance, especially during acceleration from low speed. Definitely a good deal:D

Chris,

That is what I am running in my 92 and I am very satisfied. By the way if you are going start bombing you should consider installing a couple of gauges (pyro & boost). If you are looking for injectors to give your truck a real kick in the pants then check with Piers Diesel Research Inc. http://www.piersdiesel.com/. In fact PDR has the POD's on as specials.

Midnight is right. You won't find one any cheaper than $117 . I paid right around $150 for mine, it was worth every penny! Hopefully you can get one for a good price from one of the vendors that sponsers the TDR. They are always a good source of information as well as parts such as this.

You will be amazed at how much faster the turbo will spool up. You are probably around 14-15 PSI on the boost now. If you install the 16 cm housing and do some tweaking of the pump and timing, you will be in the 20 PSI range. Add some new injectors and then HANG ON!!! You will end up 25-30 PSI depending on the pump setup and timing.

Make sure you have gauges before you put on the housing so you can track the improvements.

Would you mind giving up your source?

I haven't seen them for less than $135, and that was on eBay. Hopefully I can swap out my housing in the not too distant future.

I swapped my housing for a used 16-cm one from a Cummins shop for $50. I think that it was in Missouri. The 16-cm. came from a 4BT that was to be overhauled or something. He said that it was no problem to swap my larger one with that one. I can't remember which Cummins location it was, but St. Louis comes to mind. The 16-cm. part was in very good shape.

which housing?

How can you tell which turbo housing I have. It has no markings on it. I bought the truck as is, except for the pump adjustments. My boost can run in the 25 to 30lbs area running empty.

Does your housing have a wastegate on it? If so, it is more than likely a 14cm housing.

Generally they have something cast right on the housing. It is often located at the back, down low so it's hard to see. Either that or it is stamped somewere.

Usually the 21,18,and 16 housings are non-wastegated. Very few 14's are non-wastegated (I have one) .
