Best price on Class V - Reese Titan, Curt Magnum V or Valley Power Pull

Hey guys I'm in the market for a class V hitch for my 01. 5 3500 and have narrowed it down to the Reese Titan, Curt Magnum V or the Valley Power Pull. I was wondering who has the best price on them? I've already looked at the Putnam XDR and others but am really interested in the three I've listed above. I prefer the hitches with the receiver piercing the cross bar and not the ones where it is welded to the bottom of it. It's a personal preference of mine because I don't like the ones where the only thing visible is the receiver. I hope someone can help since all of them are a bit on the pricey side.

I have the Reese Titan on my 01 with the dual sway control and love it.



I got it from www.Reese-Hitches.com because at the time, they had the best price i could find.

I've got the Reese Titan as well, at the time I was unaware of the others. If I could do it again I'd have gotten the super hitch class V. I have a slide in camper and the super hitch options more suited my needs, but I wasn't aware then.



I get a bargain at a local RV shop, plus used my 15% military discount and it was the best I could do on the Reese at the time.



The Reese is nice, but the drop extensions get expensive unless you want to use the sleeve to neck it down to 2". I have 3 different extensions and the sleeve, I have the extneder tube also so i can tow behind my slide in. Big bucks for my setup, I could have done it way cheaper with the Superhitch in the long run.

Did you look at the putnam? I just picked one up to replace the stocker. Good price, highest non wd rating I could find. For peace of mind more so than me actually towing that much. 2" receiver instead of 2. 5". All of my ball and ball mounts are good for a minimum 15,000lbs.

I second the Putnam XDR. It has the highest class V rating I have seen and is working great for me. No need for an adapter in order to use 2" ball mounts like the Reese. I paid $187 at Dan's Service Center here in Elkhart, IN. , they had to order it for me. Also, it is built so the cross piece is fully hiden behind the bumper unlike the stocker.

I have looked at the Putnam XDR but from the pictures I've seen of them they appear to be bolted together rather than welded construction. Specifically the cross beam that holds the receiver bolts to the side mounts that bolt to the frame. Do you have pictures of your mount?

I have a Putnam XDR on my '02 2500 (regular cab/8' bed/4x4/CTD). It is all welded construction and very well built. It is a "no drill" installation. If you get one, be sure to use the propper ball and mount (solid steel mount and 10K+ ball). I have pulled some heavy (14K/1,500 TW) loads with no problems at all. This is a great hitch and no special adapters are needed.

This is where I bought my hitch and ball/mount.



The part number is PU25132XDR (Putnam number 25132). This is for a factory rear bumper. I believe that the bolt together hitch is for a 10" deep drop bumper (breaks down for shipping).

Thanks for the info. It appears that you are right and the Putman XDR is welded and not bolted together. I still like the stock hitch better with the cross bar you can see but I think the Putnam will work just fine. The best price I found on it was $135 and $250 for the Reese/Draw-Tite/Hidden Hitch all of which are made by Cequent Towing Products. They all are now Tow Beasts since they were sued for using the name Titan.

Thanks for the tips guys. I ended up getting the Putnam XDR, a 6" drop ball mount rated at 15,000 lbs and a 2-5/16 ball rated at 30,000 lbs from Weaver Distributing for less that $225 delivered to my door!
