OK guys, help me out here. My headlight switch is starting to fry on my 97, & I know there must be a deal out there on the internet someplace. I've priced them at four places here where I live, anywhere between $84. 00 & $196. 00! I don't have time to search all the treads on switches, anybody know where the deal is?

Dennis-

If the switch on the 97 is the same on the 98, I'll sell the extra one I have for my 98. My switch burning problem was fixed after 3hrs of labor, a new wiring harness and a $500 bill. 5 star jerks!

Let me know if this might work.

:)

Too late for you guys, but I strongly suggest a separate toggle switch for running lights, and a separate 10 guage wire and relay for trailer lights.

Do you mean a separate switch for the truck's running lights? How would that be done? Also, how would you do the trailer lights? ( I thought relays were only needed if the lights were going to flash... )

I use a separate 30 amp toggle switch for the running lights, by snipping the wire running from the switch to the running lights and connecting through the switch to the battery via a fuse pigtail. I have another fuse pigtail that run to a 30 amp radio shack relay to supply trailer running lights, and a starter relay running to a 10 guage wire for my camper charging wire. :D

On my 97 the trailer lights and the running lights are on the same circuit. The running lights tee off the circuit before the trailer tow relay. If you have additional lights like cab clearance lights, the power for them runs through the switch and then goes to the trailer tow relay.

I ran an additional 30 amp relay at the switch so only the relay gets powered up instead of all the running lights and the trailer tow relay. So far, I don't get any heat from the switch. Not so before the additional relay. The switch and surround was always hot.

I just bought a new switch from Auto Zone for my 98. They had two listed. One for $14+ made by Wells in stock and the other $17+ they did not have in stock. I had replaced the 95 earlier with a dealer switch. I never got a notice of a recall on the 95 switch.

My 98 works OK as long as I don't use the high beams. The 95 worked when it wanted to, but sometimes just would not come on at all.
