What is the best remote starter to get? I see several on Ebay at various prices from $75 and up.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Blake

I bought a Vallant from Whitney, on sale for $39 just for the keyless entry, think they are around $100 normally. Ended up hooking up the remote starter, very time consuming even with excellent instructions that had the wire colors right, about 10 hours. Works great from 1000 ft even though walls but only if the truck has been plugged in when cold outside. The diesel mode only allows 30 seconds max for the grid heaters, not long enough at times if not plugged in. Other than that I have been very pleased with it, tons of functions, even at $100 they're a deal.

I have been looking around here for one. I have a nephew that works in a large GM dealer ship. They have installed quite a few of them on older cars that GM doesn't make a factory kit for.

The diesel one is the Deluxe 12 model.

Circuit City has a fair selection. A lot of stereo shops are selling remote start/entry kits these days.

My all-time favorite is www.avital.com for quality, and the price was surprisingly reasonable when I had one installed on my Dodge 1500 a few years ago.

You have to check out Astro-Flex. They have been around for a long time. The best features of any system I have seen. I have been using mine since 98 and the remote just quit working a few months ago. Got a new remote and it works like new. I use this to start my truck every time and I have 160,000 miles on it. Every installer I have talked to loves the Astro-Flex. It works with Automatic or Standard transmissions. The Standard transmissions uses three lazers to make sure the transmission is in neutral before starting.

I really like the remote. Six buttons that control the start, shut down, door lock/alarm, door unlock/ disarm, panic, and one aux. Plus you can use a combination of two for adding two more aux. , setting the run time, using the find ( lights flash and horn sounds, setting the temputure. It will start when it gets to a preset degree and warm itself up.

The only downfall is it should be installed by a dealer. It has a lot of things that need to be hooked up and takes a while. Make sure someone does it that knows the system, First timers hate it till they do at least 3 then they actuly love it.

Hey Gibson im from down around Eugene. Where did you have your system installed? This sounds like something to shock the **** out of people coming out of class. Big diesel roar in the middle of downtown Eugene nothing is sweeter.

I want one with a feature that lets my truck drive itself out of the parking lot and come pick me up at the curb. Especially nice if it's pouring down rain. Oo. Oo. Oo.

Well I searched through a lot of these sites tonight. So many choices. My wife wants one for her Blazer and maybe I'll get one for my Ram if like I her's.

JC Whitney has the Valiant and Bulldog. The DEI and Avital look to be the same company. The Astro-Flex site is very weird and hard to use. As stated, it looks like theirs have to be installed by a dealer.

I think I'll stop and Circuit City and some other places and look at what they have. Maybe they'll have some specials on free installation.

Lots of them on Ebay too, but not much savings over other places. And how do you know whether you can trust them or not?

Thanks,

Blake

I had one put in my DEI equipped alarmed truck. I like it and the safty features so the truck can't be stolen while running aftyer the remot start are very good. It was made by DEI and has worked flawlessly for a year.

I had mine installed up in Alaska. If you go to Bend, Or. there is a place called "Sounds Fast" and they deal with Astro-Flex. The one installer, Rick, is very knowlageable and helpful. I just checked Astro-Flex website and they have a new remote that looks pretty cool. Oo.

Well today I bought the Avital for my wife's Blazer. $175 including installation. They'll be about $50 more in parts needed, but I didn't think that price was too bad.

If it works on the Blazer, I might order one for my CTD.
