Ok I know this might open up a can of worms but I need a new scan tool or to update mine. I have a Snapon mt 2500 but the 1800 to update is a little far fetched. I have found one that says it will do every thing I was wanting to know if any body has used it. AutoEnginuity® - OBD2 Scan Tool - Professional PC and PDA Diagnostics thats the web address for them. Let me know what you guys think. I run a small part time shop I am very busy (I am cheap at $35. 00 an hour) but I am not a full time so I don't want a 2000 plus for a scanner that I only use 2 or 3 times a week and primarily on diesels witch a lot of scanners don't like.

i've been looking at the AutoEnginuity but have been waiting for them to start doing volvo, looks like a nice unit and already does a ton on bmw which is my other main car i work on, i love my mtg 2500 and if update money is a major stoppage for the red brick check out ebay, theres a lot of brick stuff there and not usually expensive and you could probably score a updatable cartridge for a buttload less then off the truck (got mine off the truck when they first came out, ouch!)

if you needed a full line scanner id say check out the launch x431, around $3k but it comes with all software and adapters for just about everything automotive you can hook a scanner to, the guy i work with got one and it's pretty neat, otc genisys ain't too bad unless you want to use it for bmw and volvo then it kinda sucks

Yea but Snapon is not makeing the updates for the 2500 any more and they are offering 1100 trade for a 2500 to a solus but thats still 2300 but I like the trouble shooter that snapon has and I don't think that the auto engituity has this. I don't know witch way to go.

autoenginuity sounds pretty nice especially for the price.

im also looking at injectronic's "CJ4" but thats a different class of tool more comparable to your snap-on unit with things like injector tester cartridge, battery tester, lab scope, and all that noise. ranges from $500-$1200 depending on options and vehicle coverage.
