Best Scanner for 6.7, another CEL Dealer=$105

I was wondering what you guys prefer and where you purchased it? I have a 99, 98, 2001 and the infamous 2007 with the 6. 7. My check engine light came on for one day and disapeared and I parked the truck until I got back from Florida, drove it down to the dealer and they are charging me $105 to read the scanner code while its down there getting the darn thrownout bearing replaced. I saw one for about $180 at Autozone and looked like it would read all of my 5. 9 cummins older trucks but was not sure if it reads the 2007 with th3 6. 7??? What is the best reader out there if you were to recomend one to buy for all of my trucks including the 6. 7 3500 4x4 I have?? Thanks for any replys in advance.

I bought a Innova 3130 on line for a little over $100. This will work with any vehicle that has an OBD II port from 1996 and on. I am very happy with this unit and has done everything I needed.

This was recommend to me from some one on this forum back in Jan 08. You can buy this on line either from Amazon .com or do a search for other sellers on line.

A trip to the dealer might yield you a reflash to bring it's software up to date. The reflashes seem to have reduced the problems.

If you just want to read the codes, you can use the key on/off/on/off/on trick. Don't start the engine, just cycle the key 3 times, leaving it on the third time. You need to do it quickly (under 5 seconds for the whole process). The codes appear in the odometer window, one after the other, followed by "done". There's a list of codes and what they imply is wrong on the forum somewhere.

I purchased a reader for my kid at Costco for $37. 00. It reads and clears codes on his 95 and 01 Neon's, and worked on my 09 mini van, the wife's PT, and my 2010 PU. It's a little larger than a pack of smokes and he just throws it in the console.
